Superstitious

Caoimhe tagged me to do this quiz. I’ve never been nominated before and I don’t know what the repercussions are if I don’t co-operate, but I’m too superstitious not to play along! I think this is Caoimhe getting her revenge after I dared to diss the Rose of Tralee ;) Here goes…

Seven Things I Plan To Do Before I Die

  1. Acquire loads of money, so I can give up work and lead an idle life
  2. Spend some time America, Canada and New Zealand
  3. Visit a McDonald’s in every country
  4. Live by the sea
  5. Learn to program in Perl
  6. Try to "learn" the art of designing web pages, although I’m not sure that can be taught
  7. Go ice skating

Seven things I can do

  1. Code web pages - i hope so anyway! :)
  2. Lie in bed or stay inside quite happily doing little or nothing with my life for long periods
  3. Waste time or get distracted - i excel at this
  4. Wrap presents nicely
  5. Crafty stuff - cross-stitching, latch hook kits and knitting
  6. Instruct someone how to get to the town hall in german, or order some black forest gateau for that matter (come on! it’s almost a decade since I did Junior Cert German)
  7. Cram for exams - I can memorise large amounts of pretty useless text for increasingly short periods of time - luckily my study days are over!

Seven things I can not do

  1. Swim
  2. Drive
  3. Whistle
  4. Lie
  5. Go down escalators easily
  6. Have my photograph taken
  7. Eat popcorn reasonably quietly

Seven things that I find really attractive about the opposite sex

No need for a list here. It is all summed up in just one word: Alan :) Everyone say awww or reach for the sick bag as appropriate!

Seven things I say the most

  1. I’m a complete cabbage today
  2. Janine, you’re a muppet
  3. Run rabbit run (when I’m in a hurry as usual)
  4. Okey Doke
  5. cool
  6. Howdy
  7. I’m paying and that’s it!

Seven Books I love

  1. The curious incident of the dog in the night time - Mark Haddon
  2. Fermat’s Last Theorem - Simon Singh
  3. Designing with Web Standards - Jeffrey Zeldman
  4. Web standards solutions - Dan Cederholm
  5. A lovely love story - Edward Monkton
  6. The book of answers - Carol Holt
  7. The Argos Catalogue - OK, so a la Victoria Beckham, I’m a bit weak on the literature front!

Seven people I would like to see take the quiz

  1. Fence
  2. Gavin
  3. SK
  4. Red Mum
  5. Neuro
  6. Anthony Finucane
  7. Michele Neylon

Well now you know why I don’t post much about myself on this blog. There is enough in the above to keep all the psych staff in Dublin going until retirement! I think that’s the last time I will be purging my soul for a while, which is in everyone’s best interests :)

“Argos Catalogue” - Good lord, if i wasn’t your sister I’d disown you ;) has me working in a bookstore for the past four years not had any effect on you girl? lol

  2. Gavin Says:

Ouch I have been nominated again!

  3. Caoimhe Says:

Have you never been ice skating?

I wish I was good at crafts..my mother and grandmother all had that gift…

Your obsession with McDonalds is disturbing..I have to ask..have you seen Supersize me?

  4. Anthony Says:

    I didn’t get nominated. Boooo-urns. :P

  5. Fence Says:

    Done.

I should’ve added the Argos catalogue. It is a great read :)

  6. redmum Says:

Bollox, I was about to say you should learn to swim as part of your seven want to do items then reading on I saw I was summoned, bollox…

However, am working on my lists…

  7. janine Says:

    you can’t please everyone!

red mum - sorry for nominating you - please don’t feel you have to contribute…
anthony - sorry for not nominating you - i hereby belatedly tag you :) i have finally got around to linking to you to by way of apology ;)
to be honest, i was knackered coming up with that list on friday night. if i did it today, i’d have a completely different list! i’d have buying a house in the plans for a start - d’oh! and buying a racehorse - i can just see tony mc coy wearing my pink flowery colours ;)
and caoimhe - no i have not seen supersize me. i know i should, but it might ruin the magic of ronald. and you would not want to deprive me of my favourite meal on earth, would you? :)

  8. daithi Says:

Dear Lord don’t anybody even *dare* to try and put Janine off McDonalds - a diet consisting entirely of fizzy cola bottles has to even worse than a McD’s obsession.

Incidentally, I wholeheartedly approve of no. 5 on your first list ;-)

  9. janine Says:

lol @ dave - you haven’t gone off perl yet then? even with all your postgrad knowledge? ;) thought you would have moved onto ruby or something by now :) is your big thesis thing finished yet?

and i have got so much better these days. i have *sandwiches* as well as the fizzies and nuggets now. but despite eating so healthily these days, i’ve been more sick in the past year than ever before. maybe i had the right idea all along!

btw i read ronald mc donald’s nutritional guide and it turns out his delicacies don’t seem too bad for you at all. and the 150,000 people served *daily* in *ireland alone* clearly agree :D

  10. Michele Says:

Janine - I may take it at some stage, but not today :)
