I've never met so many Janines! I'm so sick of people spelling and saying my entire name wrong. I once won an award and the man said my first and last name completely wrong, if someone hadn't of said thats you I wouldnt have got up!
in school i got called J9 which annoyed me cos people called me J9 the canine :S
but i much prefer being called Neen or NiNi

Hello Janine's! I'm from Australia and am 26 this year. I've only ever known 1 other Janine in my life and have sorta known off 4 others who were aqaintences in my life. Yes, us Janine's are probably the only females that know who the porn star 'Janine' is if u ever googled ur name!

I love my name, it is so rare that I collect things that have my name on it (spelt exactly 'JANINE'). Type 'Janine' in the search engine of eBay (minus the 'book' section, apparently us Janine's love writing lotsa books) and you will find: a porceline doll called 'Janine' by Royal Doultan (yes, i got it!), there is a collector Bear called Janine, a handbag designer called Janine (got one!), a rare italian perfume called 'Janine' (yup, got it!) and there are designer jeans called 'Janine' (gonna get a pair!). Type into Ebay search 'janine', select 'international search' and see what u can find! There is also a 'Janine' jewellery designer in france who designed a necklace made of gold with her name on it... so want one! Also saw a men's shirt saying 'Got Janine?' on it- (however, it is referring to the pornstar...)

Guess what I saw the other day at a novelty shop? A KEYCHAIN WITH 'JANINE"!!!!!! YAYYYY!! JANINE ROCKS! (PS: Yes my Dad also named me Janine, I have noticed it's mainly our fathers who have named us this rare name!? How odd!)

hello! i am a Jeannine as well. Spelling is different I know but it's still the same ole name. Ive grown to like my name but as a child I would've given anything to be a Kim, Jenny, Lisa whatever. Something somebody could pronounce! Even today I still have people trip over my name. I've gotten...Jeanie & Jennifer! Jennifer?? Really? Where are they getting the "f" sound from? LOL! Aaahhh well. It is a different, unique name & I have grown fond of its uniquiness. I am no longer fond of the more common names. To all the Jeannines out there no matter how they spell it....a toast to all us classy ladies!!

Always nice to hear from another Janine. Had never heard of the name Elvine, and I'm glad you're happy with your unusual names. At least we don't get muddled up too often. My boyfriend has quite a common name and he has got emails meant for other people etc occasionally.
It's your name, so you can say it however you like. I say mine like 'jeneen' I suppose, but I had a couple of teachers at school who emphasised the jan part alright to get 'jan ian' which sounded fancier :)

Great to see so many Janines out there :) My parents also decided to name me Elvine. Imagine: Janine Elvine. What were they thinking? And then with an even more unusual surname when i married, i am now the only one in the world :) even without the middle name! My parents pronunciation is different to how most people here (UK) pronounce it and this is where everyone gets unstuck. We say Jan and een together, instead of the Je and neen, which run together, almost as one word. How many of you have the same pronunciation as me? I love my name as i'm usually the only janine.

Reading all of these responses just cracked me up. I'm writing from the San Francisco Bay Area. I can relate to all of it---people have called me Janie, Janice, Jeannie, Janet---and just about anything that starts with a J! I too look at the section with all of the name mugs etc. Never found my name either! One time, at a state fair, someone was making key chains made to order. Of course, he made one for me with 'Janine.' I was so proud of it! Growing up, I hardly ever heard my name. First grade there was a Janine. The teacher tried to keep from mixing us up. My last name started with a B and hers with a V, and she tried to say Janine B or Janine V and it didn't work very well! Also a Janeen in high school. But I don't know many others. I'm glad my name is unusual. My mom named me from a babysitter when we were little and she really liked the name. My nicknames are NeNe, Neaner, Nean mostly. But friends have called me Jelly Beans, Jeaner, Geech, J and of course J9. I used to work in a furniture store during college---one of the salesmen that I worked with used to sing the old song 'Janine, I dream of lilac time...' to me all the time. One last thing---when I was about 5 yrs old I asked my mom if I would always be named Janine. She laughed and said yes, of course, why do you ask? I said that Janine was not a mommy's name. A mommy's name is Betty or Mary...We always laugh about that! Fun reading all of your responses. All the best to all of the Janine's out there!

hi, my name is JEANINE but its spelled different and i have also come across people that found my name unique and in some cases unusual. Most of my close friends and family members call me Jeannie, ..I just figured I would write something since I'm surprised that this name is so unusual to a lot of people. However, I see that there are a lot more other people with my name out there lol..well take care ladies <3
