Cadbury Propaganda

Having not indulged for many a moon, I bought a Cadbury’s Golden Crisp bar yesterday. I noticed an interesting paragraph highlighted on the back of the wrapper entitled “the benefits of chocolate”:

Enjoying chocolate as part of a balanced lifestyle can play a part in making people feel calmer more relaxed and generally happier. Chocolate gives us an emotional boost, which triggers similar “good feelings” to those we experience when listening to music, or being in love!

I realise that this paragraph is carefully worded, but are we honestly expected to believe that eating a bar of Cadbury chocolate will make us calmer, happier individuals? I don’t know how they are allowed promote such ideas on their wrappers. What a load of rubbish!

I know that research has shown that really good quality chocolate containing 70% cocoa solids can be good for you, but that is a world away from the 20% cocoa solids and vegetable fat muck found in our sweet shops. Indeed, the good stuff is so rich that you would only ever eat a few squares anyway, whereas it’s possible to dispose of an entire selection box in one go! Oops, I fear I’ve said too much. :) I actually don’t eat that much chocolate these days but when I did I can definitely say that I never felt a zen like feeling of inner peace come over me - maybe I just never ate enough! :)

Of course! Without chocolate I would have taken to the hills a long time ago.
