A Wee Post for Uaneen

Today marks the 5th anniversary of the untimely passing of Irish music presenter Uaneen Fitzsimmons at the age of only 29.

I remember many a summer evening spent listening with my mum and sister to her late night 2FM show. My musical tastes were usually a bit more mainstream, but Uaneen’s passion and enthusiasm for all sorts of music were infectious.

Whenever I think of Uaneen, I can still see her smile and hear her warm bubbly tones going into raptures about a great new band. She certainly made her mark. RIP Uaneen.

Wow, is it 5 years already? That was such a shock at the time. I loved her accent and of course she had an excellent taste in music.

i can still visualise her passion for so much music that you would rarely hear on any radio in ireland. i dont know what made me think of the show ‘no disco’ last week… maybe subconsciously i knew the date of Uaneens untimely passing.

from Kildare to Canada - Thanks

I was in a band years ago called Tame, we were from letterkenny. Uaneen was the first person who played our one and only video at the time. It gave us a lot of hope as we were a small unknown band from the northern regions of Ireland. Never got to say thank you. My friends and I enjoyed the music she played too. So, Uaneen, if you can see this Thank You!
