Rowan, I can also appreciate what you are saying, as I said previously, I have a company who will supply me with the shoes you want and if you email me I will send you the photos of some of the styles I can get. It does however come back to money and minimum orders. All the shoes in the photos can be made either in leather or man made materials. They have to be ordered and then made for me. Let me know what you think of them and I will see what can be done. I too had to wear boys shoes to school and am more than aware of how it is. I still shudder about memories of my schooldays now. As Dolcevita says a nervous breakdown was certainly on the cards so I do know how you feel

Rowan

WHat do you think of these shoes? Surely these are trendy enough for a trendy twenty-something? Admittedly a bit pricey but you could try the sales.

Rowan I think i can see what you mean. You are 24 and you are clearly looking for ultra trendy shoes (e.g. those patent wedges you posted). The shoes in the specialist shops do not really cater for that - maybe they cater for women in their late 20s and upwards.

I have not seen ultra-trendy shoes in the specialist shops. I don't think you will find that anywhere. What you WILL find is fashionable, chic and stylish shoes.

I nearly did, ten years ago i used to have to wear hidious mens shoes to school. a school which i hated as it was, purely due to how hidious children can be, was made even more miserable because of my stupid feet.

this is the beautiful kind of shoe i mean.....

I dont care what all these people that own their own sites say, (they wld say they have nice shoes) there is nothing remotely sexy on any of these sites. I have even showed my friends what I mean and they agree. here is an example of the kind of thing that is just viiiiile......

http://www.thetalllady.co.uk/gbu0-prodshow/all-black-bobbie.html

(you wouldnt catch Carrie Bradshaw being seen dead in anything like this!)

http://www.thetalllady.co.uk/gbu0-prodshow/dolce-vita-snakeskin-g.html
(my gran actually has some like this, admittadly she is a glam-ish gran, but shes still 70)

Obviously the taste of a 40 yr old is considerably different from that of a 20 yr old, but i am not one of those people that just buys something because it is in fashion and actually find it hard to throw things out even after i have worn them to death. Thank you for asking but I wont hold my breathe :-(

i have managed to buy these in new look last week and they are stunning...and so far have worked wonders with the men (which i cant quite see the above having the same effect somehow!) http://www.newlook.co.uk/1529597/152959759/ProductDetails.aspx

ROWAN

Can you post a link of the sort of shoes you want to wear? Go to Faith's website and copy and paste some links here of regular sized shoes that you would like to see in larger sizes? It would help me identify the kinds of shoes you would like to see.

I really think shops like www.houseofsole.co.uk, totallylarge.co.uk, www.lushshoes.com sell gorgeous shoes. I admit they are a bit pricey, but I usually wait for sales and get what I want then. If you don't want to wait for a sale you may still pay a little more than what your smaller-footed friends pay, but hey, at least you can actually get stylish shoes these days which don't cost the earth. You can bag a bargain for about £40 - 50 in sales these days. Or less depending on the shoe.

Cos honestly sweetie .. if you think things are pretty bad now, you would have had a nervous breakdown about 10 years ago lol. There was only like Crispins, Tall and Small in Saxone (now its in Barratts) and 9to11 (now called tallgirls.co.uk). Many of the other shops were not online back then (or if they were, I didn't know about them), so if you didn't live in close proximity to the shop, you were stumped.

It is both good and bad to still hear from so many ladies facing the same predicament as myself. I know I have said this before, but I definitely am planning a site dedicated to our plight, which will be a proper presence instead of my old old blog post and will let everyone easily find the shops out there that stock large sizes and chat with others on a friendly message board. Hang on in there, and it will be up very shortly. I've decided to start off basic and small to get *something* up at long last, and then we can build on it. Our voices will be heard ladies! Here's to beautiful shoes for us all!! I'll let everyone subscribed to this post know when the site's up and for anyone who sees this but is not subscribed to post updates by e-mail, just e-mail your address to janinedalton@gmail.com and I'll add you. Thanks for your support, Janine.

Hi Emma
I follow the blog with interest, as I have a website which supplies ladies Italian shoes in sizes 7 to 11, including 1/2 sizes. Take a look at it: www.passionateaboutshoes.com I'm sure some of the shoes would take your fancy, they are made of beautiful Italian leather and are good quality - classic and stylish. Let me know what you think.
Best wishes
Claire

Calm down ladies!

I plugged my blog on here a while ago - http://sizeninefeet.blogspot.com - I've spent time researching large size shoe shops all round the world and am always looking for new sites to add - please do email me with suggestions for new sites. I'm a rather narrow size 9.5 (contrary to my blog title) but find it almost impossible to buy half sizes in the UK - the US is better but the danger is that without trying stuff on you just end up with yet more shoes to sell on ebay. Please let me know if you would like me to put a reciprocal link to your blog.

Barratts' range is OK but flimsy and rarely made of leather - personally I'd prefer to spend a bit more cash on quality shoes that will last. Long Tall Sally has some good stuff but the 9 is too small and the 10 is too big for me, even with insoles. Fashion comes and goes - I would rather buy a beautiful pair of well-made boots or shoes that I loved and would wear as often as possible rather than just because they were in fashion. But maybe that's just me (aged 31 and therefore probably over the hill in young 'uns terms) ;)

PS - I was so desperate to be able to buy shoes in styles I liked that I considered giving up my job to train as a shoemaker at Cordwainers College. Were I to win the lottery I'd be tempted to do it!
