ladies shoes in large sizes in london
Update 1 August 2009: This post is now 5 years old. While you may find some of the recent comments useful, I’ve posted a summary of central London shoe shops currently stocking larger size on my shoe forum which contains up to date information.
Update 28 Feb 2009: I’ve launched a website dedicated to ladies with larger shoe sizes. Visit the forum now and share your favourite shoe shops, or ask where you can find shoes in your size near you at PrettyBigShoes.net.
Note: If you are looking for information on finding big shoe sizes in Dublin, Ireland, read my post on Large size shoes for women in Dublin instead!
having very wide size 9 feet means that my choice of footwear is extremely limited. however, on a recent trip to london, i discovered that the situation was not as desperate as in dublin. in fact, i was spoilt for choice!
if you are looking for ladies shoes in large sizes in london, chiltern street is the answer to your prayers. here you will find not 1, not 2 but 3 specialist shoe shops!! chiltern street lies parallel to baker street and is only a couple of minutes walk from madame tussauds. here is a basic map (not to scale!):

starting at the end closer to madame tussauds (on the side closer to madame tussauds too) your first stop is magnus shoes (44 chiltern street, tel +44 (0)20 7224 3938). magnus have a large selection of ladies shoes in sizes 8 to 12 here and i found the staff very helpful. you can browse for ages trying on half the shop without any problems! of the 3 shops, magnus definitely had a slightly older feel but they still have some funky and glamourous styles here. styles range from high heels to converse trainers. if you are looking for an everyday shoe that you will need to be able to do lots of walking in, this is your best bet. if you can’t make it to one of their retail branches, magnus do a mail order service and also sell a limited number of styles online.
moving on, you will shortly come to crispins shoes (28-30 chiltern street, tel +44 (0)20 7486 8924). crispins are specialists in narrow fittings as well as large sizes and offer a mail order service. they certainly had a very impressive selection, especially of more dressy fashionable styles. they also sell some lovely handbags too! unfortunately, since they specialise in narrow fittings, many of the styles were far too dainty for my big elephant feet!
speaking of which, my favourite find was a newly opened branch of elephant feet (8 chiltern street, tel +44 (0)20 7486 2086)! specialists in fashionable shoes from sizes 7 to 22, their main store is in brixton. the chiltern street branch is quite small but it has an absolutely gorgeous selection of ladies shoes in sizes 7-12. i picked up a pair of pretty pink wedge heels which make my feet pass for being cinderellas rather than her ugly sisters for once!
Update June 2006
As is clear from the large number of comments below, the good news is that there is certainly a market for larger size ladies shoes. It is nice to know I am not alone and hopefully shoe manufacturers will get the message! I will try to summarise helpful links added by commenters here. Thanks so much for taking the time to share the useful info.
Another shoe store has opened in Chiltern Street since I posted. The details are:
Totally Large Shoes
39 Chiltern Street
London
Phone: +44 (0) 207 4868815
You can browse the fashionable selection and buy online at totallylargeshoes.co.uk.
While I was seeking to highlight the niche shoe shops on Chiltern Street, London in my post, here are links to high street shops and mail order / online specialists offering ladies shoes in larger sizes:
- Evans – they sell larger shoes as well as larger clothes and the prices are relatively reasonable. Although, personally I think that they charge a lot for what you get in some cases!
- Barratts, Next (and Brantano although I am unfamiliar with this store) all stock larger sizes in some styles
- Steptall, Tall Girls and Lush Shoes are websites specialising in large size shoes for women
Finally, if you are looking for information on finding large size ladies shoes in Dublin, Ireland, read my Irish post on big shoes instead.

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!! This information has helped me no end. Im a size 9 and have been living in either trainers or unfashionable shoes for ever. Thank you for all the links, i intend to take a trip to baker street very soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
June 1st, 2005 at 12:43 am
didnt think irish girls/women could have feet so big as a size 9 how old are you?
June 28th, 2005 at 9:24 pm
Thank-you to Crispins and Magnus to easing the pressure of shoe hunting – it used to be depressing but now I can’t wait until pay day to check out Elephant feet!!
July 13th, 2005 at 1:09 pm
Elephant Feet and Crispins are great but the staff at Magnus are very unfriendly and unhelpful
July 15th, 2005 at 12:56 pm
I come from POland. DO you have internet shop?
August 11th, 2005 at 10:21 am
I have been shopping at Magnus and Crispins for years and they are very helpful, the only problem is that Magnus shoes can tend to be fashionable but slightly uncomfortable, where as Crispins shoes are more expensive but lovely soft leather and last a long time (you pay for the quality definitely).
If you ever travel to Canada I have found my favourite shop called Tall Girls, very comfy, fashionable shoes and they don’t all have 6 inch heels! Unfortunately they don’t do mail order, but I travel with an empty suitcase!
November 22nd, 2005 at 4:46 pm
It is great to think there are other people out there in my situation. I live in Mayo and no shop carries my size. Unfortunately I have a very narrow foot so it makes it even harder. This web site has been very helpful to me. I plan on taking a trip to Dublin very soon. Or maybe even to London. Why can’t normal shoe shops carry these sizes when there is such a demand.
Thank You

Having read all of the comments I completely agree it’s very hard finding shoes for women like myself with large feet. Living in London I tend to buy my shoes from some of the retailers mentioned in the previous comments. However, I’m still not satisfied as I find that the shoes can be overpriced and not very trendy with a high heel……..Is it too much to expect fashionable shoes as you’d find in the likes of Faith, Kurt Geiger, Berties etc!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I find that USA cater much more for my needs but I hate the inconvenience of having to pay tax and shipping fees. Hopefully, in time things will get better
December 3rd, 2005 at 2:09 pm
Well, I too am a size 9 and getting shoes is a nightmare. However, Next Directory do all their shoes up to a size 9 and can be ordered online (stores tend not to stock them) or alternatively Faith do some ranges in a 9 – but be careful as they are Euro 42’s not 43’s, and not always very wide fitting – so I can’t fit into any of their gorgeous boots
December 5th, 2005 at 10:48 am
I`am a size 10.5uk and still to this day can not find funky shoes that fit, Barretts have a tall and small section which is priced quite decently but with regards to buying shoes from america who do you shop with? I find alot dont ship outside of the US.
December 5th, 2005 at 12:42 pm
Thanks Sara C, I have the same problem with Faith and Next are good but sometimes the quality of their shoes is not very good.
In response to the comment left by Ein, I have purchased shoes from the following US websites
http://www.designershoes.com
http://www.friedmansshoes.com
But just be aware that UK customs randomly charge VAT & a handling fee which has to paid to the parcel service delivering the shoes, who refuse delivery if you refuse to pay the fee. This is most frustrating as I feel that we are being penalised for buying from the USA, if the EC countries catered for people such as ourselves we’d not buy from the USA. On one ocassion I brought 2 pairs of boots for $300 and had to pay £70 upon delivery. Unfortunately one of the boots was too big so I had to return them and did not get back any of the £70 I had paid to recieve them. Not too mention that I ended up paying postage fees twice. Nevertheless, the staff at both of these websites are very friendly and helpful.
As well as Tallgirls.co.uk based in the UK. Recently I came across the following UK websites:
http://www.steptall.co.uk
http://www.lushshoes.co.uk
I hope this helps!

its all very well directing people to these shops, it is helpful, but not everyone can afford the prices they charge!! you can hardly buy a pair of shoes or boots for under £100 in these shops. its terrible that if you’ve got large feet you have to pay three times as much for your footwear.
December 16th, 2005 at 5:01 pm
Hi Beth
I completely agree with you, its’ not fair that we have to pay more and have a limited selection to chose from!!!!!!!!!! Barratts tall and small and Next Directory are the only places I’m aware of where you can purchase shoes for much cheaper, maybe you could try them. Next Directory go up to size 9 while Barratts go up to size 10. Although, we pay more for our shoes the High Street stores which sell sizes 3 – 8 charge alot more for their shoes compared to a few years ago.

http://www.steptall.com is a shop I recently came accross when I needed a pair of shoes deperately and urgently. Their service is superfast and they have extremely helpful staff. I have since prurchased several other shoes from them – the quality of the shoes is excellent. highly recomment http://www.steptall.com

Ladies shoes in size 9 can be hard to find. Not any more, try
http://www.homeshoppingdirect.com
They are based in Manchester and offer a wide range of width’s and sizes in a variety of styles and heel heights.Prices are reasonable and delivery is good. It’s always an idea to look at the same product on as many of their web sites as poss, using the link’s on their home page,as this can save quite a bit on the price you pay (this seasons Hush Puppies from £20).I hope this helps your feet feel and look a lot better.Happy bargain hunting.

Im really glad to see shops for the people with bigger feet! my mates think its so weird that my feet are a size 8 and they call me big foot. Next time im in London (i love there!!) im gonna go o these shops. Thanks
January 27th, 2006 at 8:04 pm
Thank you very much for such valuable information. I´m from Spain and my feet are a size 10.5. Here in Barcelona there are 2 shops in the whole city in which they sell my size unfortunately they are old fashion and far too expensive even though I´m used to pay over $100 for a pair of shoes that´s why at least I would like them to be of my taste. Once more thank you very much for your information I´ll go there this summer since I´m planning to stay there for a month.
By the way, does anybody know of a student residence in London for the summer?
January 30th, 2006 at 12:15 am
Man you all have nothing on me…I have a size 11UK…and you say you all have big feet…please…if you think finding shoes for a size 9 foot is a problem try having my feet. I to have shopped at the above stores…and they are true to size. Evans also stocks up on big sizes as well…and sometimes I’m a size 10 there depending on the cut of the shoe. In the States I love shopping at designershoes.com

GREAT NEW news on Chiltern street – Totally Large Shoes (http://www.totallylargeshoes.co.uk) has opened a branch (39 Chiltern street) I only glanced at their selection through the window as they were closed but it looked good. Cant wait for the day the whole street is taken over by tall shops and big shoe shops! Also, Long Tall Sally (also has a branch on Chiltern street) has been taken over with a much improved stock and a very limited but soon to expand line in good looking large footwear – there is light at the end of the tunnel ladies. x

OA has just opened a new store in Lewisham Shopping Centre (SE London). They provide an excellent range from 36-46 (for ladies of course). They also have two other stores in Dalston (E.London) and Peckhem (S.London) with the same range. Very helpful staff and a very big range for all types. They have just launced their interactive website and selling online. Big size range is called Elli bu Oliver Ashley. Visit http://www.oliverasley.com or call 020 7923 3497.

Hi Girls, I know what you all are talking about, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve cried i Shoestores. I live i Sweden, I have size 10(UK)and the selection here is like in your countries, small. There are some shops, but the styles are very unfashioned and expensive! I lived in New York for a few years a while ago. They have a brand called Payless Shoesource, they have a wide selection of large and wide sizes and they are cheap! A pair of boots are about $30 and sandals $8-15. Unfortunally they don’t ship overseas, but if you happen to be in the states, visit the shop, they are countrywide. Otherwise, check out their website and look what you’re missin. http://www.payless.com
I’m going to London i April, and I will definetly take a visit to Chiltern st. Thanks for the tip, and remember, we are not alone, one day we’ll take over the world!!
February 8th, 2006 at 11:20 pm
hi girls,
my shovel feet don’t feel comfy in a lot of shoes…
great to see my ancient post is still of use and thanks for the handy links.
seems like chiltern street is still where it’s at store wise… the more internet sites where you can buy online the better, but i’m very wary of buying shoes without trying them on.
February 21st, 2006 at 10:11 am
I live near London, so have been to most of the places talked about, especially Chiltern st. There are some really lovely shoes and the staff in Crispins are nice, but as a student I just can’t afford to pay the prices, with rent and tuition fees- its just not gonna happen! So I basically live in trainers in the winter and flip flops in summer. Even if I was able to afford them, I would’nt pay the price because I feel that women with larger feet are just being taken advantage of, an extra inch or two of leather- or plastic, shouldnt add an extra 50-100 pounds onto a pair of shoes. Now though I’m suffering as I’m looking for a pair of work shoes and there just doesnt seem to be much out there thats affordable. My saviour is evans- a high st store thst goes up to size 12 and is affordable, and they have good sales.
I’m around a size 9-10, and used to do dolcis years ago when I was at school, but the company was taken over and the size nines are now more like a size six or seven! Don’t be fooled by Faith either, I ordered a pair of shoes last summer that were soft leather in a size nine and my mum whos a size six to seven struggled to get her foot in- I took them back to the store thinking they’d mistakenly put a size 6 tag on a size 9, but the new pair were just the same.
Anyway, I have one more website to add to the list, I found it in my quest for affordable work shoes- I would’nt call it an affordable site, but if you have the money and don’t mind spending large amounts on shoes its an American site called Barefoot Tess. Hush Puppies and I think Dr Martin do larger sizes too, plus Barrats- another affordable high st. one.
Good luck!

Hello everyone, it’s nice to hear that there are so many more women like me searching for a decent pair of shoes. I know it’s such a struggle, and so expensive too, I’ve found that tallwomen.org has a great selection of websites to choose from, so far I have used tallgirls.co.uk and lushshoes.com and they were both very friendly aand efficient, however I would certainly prefer to try the shoes on in store!
I don’t know if anybody saw the feature on ITV’s This morning the other day about Lindsey with size 13 feet, I wrote into the show to ask them to take the issue further, as there seem to be so many of us big-footed girls out there. I’m also a size 10 so I know how your feeling! If I hear anything back I will let you all know.
March 10th, 2006 at 1:36 pm
I am a UK size 9-10 and recently came across largershoes4less.com, they have a great selection in sizes 9 – 13 and sometimes 14. I ordered a few shoes from them and they were great.
March 12th, 2006 at 8:37 pm
Hi i am a VERY wide size 9 sometimes a 10 depending on style and since Saxones in Birmingham closed I have purchased all of my footwear from Evans outsize ( I am a size 14 in clothes) Their boots this year are absolutely fab and are all very wide and cheap – so much so I bought 2 pairs as I have never found any that fit my calfs so I am in heaven at the moment! Bought one pair with heels even though I am 6′ tall and a pair of flat ones. Check their website out as they are in the clearence sale now at £20 ish a pair. Hope this helps some of you
March 12th, 2006 at 9:28 pm
Hi, its so nice to know that i’m not the only one with this problem. I was the subject of many jokes when i was in school as i had to wear mens shoes, not very attractive i can tell you. I understand where many of you are coming from with the price of these shoes. I’m a student and i find it vey hard in finding shoes that i can afford. I live near Llnadudno in North Wales and the nearest place that sells size 9 which you can buy there and then is, brantano in Rhyl. Other than that i have to rely on the internet.
March 13th, 2006 at 9:05 pm
Why has this not filtered into the main high street stores?? There are obviously many of us about who find the idea of shoe shopping just incredibly depressing! Especially when shoes are sold as a 9 but are in fact a 42 and appear to be more a 7.5 to 8! I am getting married in a couple of months and have been surfing the net for what seems like a life time for something appropriate.. most wedding shoes in larger sizes (if you can find them) come in flat or low heels assuming you are tall cuz you have large feet! I am 5′8 but my fiance is 6′4 – I need heels!!
Thank you to all who have added links and ideas – I will start trawling through all of them and if I come across any good places along the way I willbe sure the add the links to this page.
March 14th, 2006 at 9:16 am
I know what you mean about size 9s not being “true” size 9s. I have run into this problem too. Good luck with finding your wedding shoes kate!
March 14th, 2006 at 8:54 pm
I have just been searching on google and i came across the faith website and found that they do a selection of size 9 shoes. Some of the shoes can be a bit expensive but some of the shoes are on sale. I was pleased to find that the range of shoes are also fashionable and not the drab styles i normally find. The styles range from, sandals, wedges, courts, casual shoes and boots. I hope this helps with what you are looking for.
March 14th, 2006 at 8:56 pm
Sorry I forgot to put the website address on for you all, it’s http://www.faith.co.uk.
March 17th, 2006 at 10:41 pm
Finding this website was great, im only 20 and i have snarrow size 9/10 feet. I also find it a nightmare to find shoes especially fashionable one!! I looked at all your comments and have ordered some new brochures, so i cant wait to find some shoes i really like for a change!!
March 19th, 2006 at 7:54 pm
You don’t know how long I have been looking for a website like this with like minded big footed ladies. I love you all for you suggestions.
My fiance hates it when I say I need to go shoe shopping as he knows what an ordeal it is. Now thanks to your info I can take him to what I see as shoe heaven and buy shoes that I like that may even make my feet look smaller.
Normally if you have big feet you have no fashion sense no taste and want shoes that make your feet look even bigger. (thats what it feels like with the range of shoes i’ve seen in most shops up to now)
http://www.brantano.co.uk is another shop that sells up to a ladies uk size 11 they tend to be reasonably priced too.
Kate if you find some great wedding shoe shops I’d love to know as i’m getting married in 6 months. Normally I buy the shoes and then look for the outfit to match (it seems less heart breaking then) I have my dress but I can’t find any shoes at the moments.
Thank you all once again for all the sites you’ve made my year.
Charley x
March 20th, 2006 at 8:39 pm
Just a word of warning. Evans footwear clearance sale on their web site is more expensive than going to the store. The boots I bought on line for £30 down from £50 (which I thought was a bargain) are only £20 in the store.
I wrote to them asking why and was told that they often run different promotions on line to the store so beware!!

March 20th, 2006 at 10:00 pm
I live in Stoke and have size 10 feet which are awful after years of squashing them into shoes which are too small. If I could wave a magic wand, average size feet is what I’d wish for. There is only Evans and Brantano where I can shop. I long for a knee high pair of boots which fit my wide feet but average width calfs. Evans’ are too baggy on my legs. I’m going to go on all the sites you’ve mentioned. P.s. Even my oldest friend doesn’t know what my shoe size is! I find it very embarrassing but it is bothering me less as I get older.
April 9th, 2006 at 9:01 pm
Hi Ladies,
Some more ideas for you –
Special Feetures do a great mail order service for long and narrow shoes. You draw around your feet and they advise on the phone which shoes will fit! Trendy shoes – not cheap but good quality.
I also used to go to the Tall and Small shoe shop on York Street (5 mins walk from Chiltern St) – not sure if its still there?
Ellie Dickenson hasa shop in Hungerford tel 01488 686 480 – she does a brochure – some narrow fittings.
Long Tall Sally the clothes shop have got some great shoes – some come up very narrow too. Try the chunky leather flipflops in grey and beige £30 and the slingbacks in grey suede or black leather reduced to £45 at the moment!
Lets keep swapping info ladies!
April 10th, 2006 at 8:17 pm

April 20th, 2006 at 9:05 pm
just went on the magnus shoes website to check. some of their styles go up to a 12.
April 20th, 2006 at 10:51 pm
Good to see this thread still active and some great advice being shared.
I’m a size 9 (Eu 43), but have found recently that with open/peep toe or sandal style shoes from Next that their 9’s are too big for me & I can get away with an 8 (Eu 42) instead, which is great as more of the branches stock them!
April 23rd, 2006 at 8:52 pm
http://www.tallgirls.co.uk is worth checking out, it stocks 9-11 in fashionable and affordable shoes! i have ordered loads from there and they are absolutely fantastic! thanks everyone for all the other links on this page!
May 3rd, 2006 at 1:01 am
this is my favorite site. they have great shoes..tons of choices and a big price range. i am a US 12 and these are fun shoes… sort of edgy and fashion forward.. i feel like im getting the same shoes as my younger sister who has smaller feet
May 3rd, 2006 at 12:51 pm
hey,
just to say a massive thanks to this site… I have now officially discovered Chiltern St!! I used to always buy my shoes either online or from Evans, the problems with this are numerous. Online shoes often dont fit properly or arent comfortable and then u have the hassle of trying to send them back. A warning to those large footed ladies out there, avoid Evans shoes, they always fall to pieces in no time at all…
I agree with the comments above, why arent there more 1inch heeled large shoes about… often us girlies with big feet are tall as well… its bad enough having size 11s without having to be 6ft too!!
Thanks!!
May 4th, 2006 at 12:07 am
The information on the site is helpful but the only problem is, I am a size 8 but wide width and I have not seen anyother store but evans who does that. Is there any other you know of?
May 4th, 2006 at 7:06 pm
hello i am 16 years old i live in merseyside in the uk and have size 9 feet fortunatley there are a few shoes that sell my size but are quite expensive more shoe shops should sell bigger shoes for same prices as smaller feet that would make it alot easier for girls like me.
May 5th, 2006 at 8:46 pm
I could cry when i read all the comments above. Sometimes you feel you are the only one.I take a uk 10.There have been many times i have worn mens shoes and i used to dread the summer months, because i could never find a decent pair of affordable sandles. Yes i agree ,with so many of us out there why haven’t the established shops realised we need to be treated the same as everyone else. Why do they assume large feel equates large purses!there has been some really helpful hints looking forward to the summer now. Peace.

Although being a size 10 is a complete pain…. it does give you something to say in those awful ice breakers on training courses…. you know the tell us something interesting about you!
May 6th, 2006 at 2:11 pm
Hi I have just found your web site and have suffered for many years with large feet, size 10.5 – 11 uk, as a teenager I never went ice skating, bowling or even skiing as you would always be asked your foot size, I am now 42 years old and went skiing for the first time three years ago, I am past the embarressed stage I just get frustrated when you say the size you want and you are then asked are you sure, yes I’ve had these feet this size for the best part of 30 years I think I know the size of my feet. Over the years buying shoes has gone through stages of availablity, a few years ago I found the Glass Slipper, unfortunately they closed down but I am lucky enough to live in Hungerford in Berkshire where Ellie Dickins opened her first shop, great service, good choice and very knowledgeable. You can find her on the web, Ellie understands the problems we have with having large feet as she has the same problem. Ellie welcomes comments and suggestions as to what customers want from any age range, she has now opened a shop for men with large feet including a bespoke range, I visited the other day size 15 makes my feet look almost small! Lets hope as time goes by and more ladies with large feet refuse to wear just trainers or mens shoes that more manufacturers will realise there is a market out there.
May 13th, 2006 at 11:47 pm
I have a great recommendation for women’s large size shoes. Try Dreamshoes http://www.shoesofyourdreams.com. My daughter wears a size 14 and we bought her first pair of women’s dress shoes ever! They are in the US but will ship overseas through http://www.internationalcheckout.com with all charges prepaid, so no surprises! I understand they carry all the way up to US size 15 and have wide widths, too.
May 19th, 2006 at 5:59 pm
This website has bridal shoes in size 9 and 10 at very reasonable prices. I have been a size 10 – 10.5 since I was 16 years old and will be 46 this year so I know exactly what you ladies are going through. Edinburgh, the CAPITAL of Scotland has only one Brantano whose shoes all look like what we called housebricks in the 70s – big thick soles and clumpy heels. Chances are if you have big feet you are also very tall (I am 6 feet tall) and why would you want to add another 3 inches to the soles of your feet! We have two Barrats but the range is really only suitable for very trendy very young girls who like squeezing their feet into very pointy shoes! I don’t have wide feet, just normal width, so Evans fall off my feet! What is a girl to do? I have to resort frequently to mail order and like all of you feel the higher prices are not fair. I watch the websites of all of the sites mentioned on these pages for sales and buy work shoes then, whether I need shoes or not as sure as fate I won’t find any when I do need them. Same thing goes for clothes for tall ladies. Apart from Long Tall Sally there is precious little out there and the population is allegedly getting taller. Dorothy Perkins have had a very limited tall range for a while now but as they don’t advertise it and you only find out through word of mouth, how long will it be before they stop stocking it because nobody was buying it? GRRRR – makes me mad. No wonder my mum used to make all my clothes!

If anybody is interested in Shopping in the USA, you should check out http://www.shopthestates.com/. They give you a US address for a small fee. You can organise to have multiple shipments combined into one. They can also package all your stuff together and send them on in one shipment using the most economical postal solution. I´ve never used them myself mind you, but in theory it sounds interesting.
I have a grazer shopping directory on my blog and I am including a category for webstores that cater for Big people. If anybody has any recommendations, please let me know and I will add to the directory.:)

I take size 11 and am in absolute despair at trying to find shoes, particularly suitable for work! I have tried a majority of the web sites that have been suggested. However, I feel enlightened that there are many of us out there with large feet and ita about time companies took notice. I live in Devon and there is nothing down here at all to cater for me.
May 26th, 2006 at 3:20 am
I saw a few notes about this site. Someone said its expensive but there are quite a few shoes under $50 US which is not expensive. There are also
expensive shoes.. so its your call. But they have the same shoes that I see
in smaller sizes on their web site which is what I am all about. If you want cheap check out pare gabia, bamboo , converse and dollhouse. I think Barefoot Tess is best in the mid range… i just bought DOLCE VITA in size US 12.. beat that!!!! for under 100. I’m sure I’ve never seen them in large sizes before.

I couldn’t believe my luck when I stumbled across this website late one evening. I was so engrossed reading the entries and checking all the websites that I stayed up until 5am out of sheer excitement.
My heart goes out to all of those, who like me (I wear a size 10), have suffered with large feet – and finding shoes to fit. And many of my own feelings are echoed in so many of the other comments on this website: lack of decently priced, non-dowdy and low-heeled shoes on the high street.
Thanks to all of you for all the recommendations. I thought I had a fairly comprehensive list of shops catering for larger shoe sizes, but now I have many, many more thanks to you all.
I have one other shoe company to mention. It is called – Green Shoes – and does made-to-measure comfortable shoes in small to large sizes and can cater for various widths too, and if you can’t visit the store in person you can send them an outline of your feet, and once you’ve placed your order, a ‘mock-up’ pair will be sent, and further adjustments made before the final product is finished and sent to you. They aren’t the verylatest in trendy shoes, and they don’t make your feet look smaller at all, but I can vouch for the quality, durability and great service (and low heels). The price isn’t too bad considering it’s all handmade. They also offer a re-sole service:
You can find Green Shoes at:
http://www.greenshoes.co.uk/index.php
By the way, I have spotted four pairs of shoes on the Payless Shoe Source website that I’d like to buy, and as they don’t ship overseas I am going to sign up for the Shop the States mail forwarding service…will let you all know how I get on with it all.
Thanks again for this – it’s great to know that there are others out there
May 28th, 2006 at 5:10 pm
I discovered this website late one night while surfing aimlessly. And what a find it is! It’s so heartening to find that there are so many others out there in the same boat – and that there are so many shops out there that are starting to cater for us. Thanks for all the recommendations! I only knew about a handful of the shoe stores mentioned, and was so excited by all the choice that I stayed up late to look at all the websites mentioned.
My heart went out to all you as you mentioned all your experiences and made me remember the heartache my mum went through trying to find shoes for me when I was a (mere) size 8 at the age of 11. I now wear a size 10 but am preparing myself for the day when my eight-year-old (who wears a size 2.5) will (probably) wear a larger size than most. Perhaps by then more (or all!) of the main high street shops will have woken up to the fact that we do exist and need a wide choice but not a hefty price tag!
I’ve found some shoes on Payless Shoesource and will give the Shop the States forwarding service a try…
One shoe store that hasn’t been mentioned where you can buy handmade shoes to order is Green Shoes. They will go up to a size 10, maybe beyond:
http://www.greenshoes.co.uk
The shoes are not trendy, more practical and hardwearing, but extremely well made – in leather with vegan varieties. They have a small range of shoes, boots and sandals and if you can’t make it to the shop, you need to send an outline of your foot with measurements and they will then send you a ‘mock-up’ pair which you then send back with any comments. The final pair will then be sent to you once all the adjustments have been made. Well worth it if you’re in the market for sensible shoes.
Thanks again to all of you with all your helpful suggestions!
May 29th, 2006 at 3:40 pm
Great site and thanks for helpful information. Anyone else got a cupboard full of shoes they bought aiming to ‘break them in’ – only to find what you really knew in the shop -they would never be comfortable?? Meanwhile you wear the same pair until they are worn out!!
Someone earlier posted about Canada and the TallGirl shop. I’ve been there and filled a suitcase! But know something that really annoyed me? They had in their range Clark’s shoes. Yes, Clark’s available up to a size 12 UK. They are made here in the UK but not for sale here. I’ve tried on-line with no success. Maybe we should all petition Clark’s to prove demand?
June 7th, 2006 at 3:49 pm
hi everyone ,Evans have a really good shoe sale on right now. shoes priced as low as £10.00. Shoe sizes are up to size 10. I have not put the web address here because as mentioned before , it’s cheaper to buy direct from the shop rather than on-line. Happy shopping.
June 8th, 2006 at 3:07 am
I think I filled this out before but here goes. I was looking at all these sites
and there are none that hold a candle to my new fav..www.barefoottess.com. the difference for me is that they have name brands for the large sizes.. the same shoes that my sisters buy in smaller sizes.. in particuar i have the best ever jeffrey campbell and dolce vita.. both
mid range but totally cool shoes and they have the only shoes ever made by those guys in sizes US 13. they sell out fast but have new shoes all the time.. you should check it out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
June 8th, 2006 at 9:51 pm
Forgot to mention another website I have used:
http://www.zappos.com/welcome2.zhtml?0608
They stock a bewilderingly large range of shoes, trainers, dance shoes etc, etc in ladies sizes up to 13 (UK 11), but be warned, you need to set aside good chunk of time to wade through everything – and you’ll need to set up a mail forwarding address, unless you know someone in the US. They deliver very quickly (to the US address and accept returns without any problems).

it is great to hear from so many other ladies with larger feet. thanks to everyone for posting their experiences and for the helpful website suggestions. i will try to update my post with some of the main links.
sorry for keeping you up so late debbie, but i’m really glad you found this page useful, and yes helen i have a large number of ill fitting shoes that were never comfortable too! i am still relying on pairs i bought on my last trip to london quite a long time ago…
thanks for the irish input paul!
i actually mentioned cinderella in a separate post about shoe shops stocking large sizes in dublin at http://www.janinedalton.com/blog/archives/2005/large-size-shoes-for-women-in-dublin/ it is just not as popular as this one!
June 21st, 2006 at 6:32 pm
I also have large feet and it is very difficult for me to find shoes… I live in Switzerland and I don’t know any shop for large size feet.
I’m going to London this summer so I’ll take an empty suitcase and fill it there! Thank you very much for these information it will be very useful !!
July 5th, 2006 at 11:01 pm
I am 20, I live in North Yorkshire, and I also have size 12 feet (UK size) and my feet are a narrow fitting. Shoes seem to get wider with size which is most annoying when i can barely find any shoes that are size 12 anyway. It seems so unfair that the highstreet simply does not cater for women who have feet bigger than size 10 and most specialist stores have a very limited stock of shoes over size 11. Catalogues are all very well but after a time, with many not fitting due to being too wide for my feet, this becomes expensive. People should not have to travel to London or send off for shoes from America, it is time that manufacturers took notice that people are getting taller and therefore it goes without saying that so are their feet !

Has anyone checked this one out? I got the new Jeffrey Campbell…

July 30th, 2006 at 11:51 pm
Nice to know that there a lot of ladies with big feet out there – anybody know where I can get size 13 shoes in the UK – no high heels (I’m 6′ 1!) With problem feet I have had to rely on orthotic boots – not very fashionable and very hot in the summer! I have looked at the sites mentioned above and find some prices exhorbitant in some places! Ladies using sizes 9 -12 may also like to try Big Feet Directory and Magnus (already mentioned above) It has been heartening to read all the comments above – hopefully some manufacturer might read this and do something! keep up the site – good luck!
August 4th, 2006 at 12:05 am
I found out today that MOST Evans stores will no longer be carrying their size 10 range! Only selected larger stores will carry the 10’s.
Also Brantano’s have stopped selling their ladies 10’s too (both the one’s i’ve been in lately anyway)
Why as people’s feet are getting bigger are the in store options getting less??
August 7th, 2006 at 6:24 pm
What about Long Tall Sally stores? I think they’re absolutely amazing! Gorgeous shoes
The only bad thing about it is that the staff is dreadful and pathetic. Check for yourself!
August 9th, 2006 at 7:54 pm
Thanks so much. Recently visited London from Canada and indulged on Chiltern. FYI Nordstrom’s website has a lot of size 12 shoes. The website doesn’t ship outside the US but the catalog 1-888-282-6060 does. One nice thing about their website is that you can be very specific about what you are looking for by using the advanced search function. http://www.nordstrom.com

As grateful as I am in the improvement in style for us females with over size 8 feet, I am still largely disappointed in the ranges offered to us. I have had to battle since the age of 10 for shoes with a modicom of fashion/style awareness. Unfortunately, I chose the wrong side of fashion to work in and attempted to make the break into size 9+ shoes as a new career. While studying at Cordwainers, I was given the impression that the logistics of trying to get into this type of retail was a near impossible challenge. The market is obviously ready to supply to but no one is doing it with any real passion! The ranges lack the ‘edginess’ required to make them real hits that you will love in seasons to come. I dream of being given the opportunity to design really fabulous shoes that make the wearer look and feel amazingly put together…an ambition I hope to achieve.

i am quite young, 16, and i really want a pair of fashionable boots. I want flat boots that i can tuck my jeans into!!!! please HELP!
September 7th, 2006 at 1:58 am
I got a bunch of boots at http://www.barefoottess.com that fit that description.
Look at the Corso Como, the Pajar, and the Delman as well as the Barefoot Tess Ilene boot which is quite reasonable. You can deifnitely tuck in your jeans. Also, check out the Dolce Vita… very cool. This is the hottest shoe store in the states.. for big sizes and even some shoes for smaller sizes.
September 7th, 2006 at 8:10 pm
I am 19 and have found shoe shopping a nightmare since about 16. I take a size 9 and prefer almost flat to flat shoes/boots/sandals. As someone mentioed above why should we pay more, just because we want shoes in a larger size? Don’t manufacturers realise the ever increasing demand for ‘normal shoes’ in larger sizes. After reading all the commnets posted on here, it is a relief to hear I am not the only female to encounter this problem!
September 12th, 2006 at 8:39 pm
hey my name is jo and i am am student doing some research! having large feet myself I am interested in hearing from any ladies that have size 10 feet and over! My research goes towards my 10,000 word dissertation and would just involve asking you a few questions about availability fo shoes etc
If you can help me, please email j.p.simson@rhul.ac.uk

I am so pleased I have come across this websit. For many years I have been battling to find fashionable shoes in a size 9 which are wide fitting . I am 24 years old, I have a real love affair with shoes the problem is my feet are usually either too big and/or too wide to fit in to shoes on the high street. I have been subjected to one shop for years and buy shoes for practicality purposes and not because I really like them. I have only ever had vey limited choice or no choice when I purchase shoes. I have also been known to buy shoes which I love for my friends because I want to look at the shoes on someone else since I carnt see it on myself because they dont come in my size. Thank you so much for letting me know that there is someplace where I can go and find shoes which I love and most importantly, it will also fit.
September 15th, 2006 at 12:22 am
Another shop that I’ve recently discovered who sell size 9’s (as Eu 42) is Aldo Shoes (www.aldoshoes.com). They have some gorgeous styles in the ranges. I don’t think it’s across all ranges, but worth asking them if you spot some you like.
September 15th, 2006 at 11:48 am
Hi,
I emailed schuh and this is what they said.
Thank you for your e-mail.
For many years manufacturers have produced their footwear in what they believe are the ’standard’ sizes, these being from sizes 3 to 8 for ladies, and 7 to 11 for men. We at Schuh have been aware of the growing demand for larger sizes in both men’s and women’s styles for some time and have approached the various brands which we stock in the hope that they will expand the sizing range. In some cases we have been very successful. We have in the past stocked ladies Kickers, and Pod footwear up to a size 10, and Read Or Dead casual styles to a size 9.
We are constantly pressuring manufacturers to supply ladies styles in the larger sizes, as we know that there is a huge demand which increases year on year, and whilst we have secured Ladies casual styles in the larger sizes, we have been less successful in procuring Ladies high fashion styles. Many of our high fashion suppliers are independent companies. As the cost of producing each size of shoe can run into tens of thousands of pounds, the manufacturers need to be guaranteed orders of a very high volume to justify the manufacture of each size. As fashions change from season to season, we are only able to order a certain amount of shoes in each particular style. Whilst we do our best to ensure the widest range of both styles and sizes possible, we are unable to persuade the manufacturers to produce extra sizes when our order is of a relatively small quantity.
However, we now have a small range of different styles available up to a size 9 on our website at http://www.schuhstore.co.uk . You may like to try the new advanced search facility which allows customers to search for shoes by size. This is accessed via the search option on the left of our homepage. If you select department ‘female’ and size ‘UK 9’ all styles that we currently stock in a size 42 will be shown.
I hope that this is of some assistance to you. Please feel free to contact me at this e-mail address should you have any further queries.
Kind regards
Nicole Strachan

Hi
For anybody out there who is looking for some fashionable boots, try duoboots.com. They do some size 9 styles and the difference here is that you can choose the calf-width too! I ordered from them last year and they fitted perfectly. I am 33 and this was the first pair of long boots I have ever owned. I am 5ft 11″ and don’t think my calves are big but could never get any boots to fit them. I tried evans and the ones there were too big – they looked like wellies! Duo are also doing roadshows all over the country so if you have one near you it will be worth a visit.
Happy shoe shopping

Indeed the above name stores are brill. London is the place to go for us size 9’s!! just back from Barrett’s in Uk got a pair of stiletto heels for £20! Bargain. I always stock up on shoes when I visit the UK. its about time the Irish stores started copping on and stocking these sizes. As for lollo who thinks Irish women can’t have feet that big I know at least two women a size ten. Shoe size is all related to the size of your pelvis so at least we will have no problems with childbirth!!

Hi Ladies
A couple of years ago, I exorcised my demons about my feet (size 43 on a good day, 44 on a bad one!) by writing an article for The Times about the hideousness of having big feet, especially if, like me, you actually care about fashion. I did a lot of research on where to buy shoes, and found that a lot of the best mail order websites are actually to be found in Europe.
Check out this website (http://www.tallwomen.org/shoes/#uk) The guy who runs it seems to have some kind of fetish for big feet in women – and good luck to him – but he’s compiled a fantastic list of European websites that cater to larger feet (and for the most part, are translated into English). It’s always a risk, ordering from a website, and it’s never cheap – but at the risk of sounding like Pollyanna, at least we have two feet!
Also, for those ladies out there who are a comfortable size 43 in round toes (obviously pointy toed shoes present a problem, as you always have to order a size bigger), high street shop Next has almost every style they do in a 43, and it’s a mixed bag – some come up small, others come up too big, and others are just right! Most of my shoes now come from Next, and the best part is that you can order from the directory, try them on in the comfort of your own home without having some irritating shop assistant staring at your feet and making you want to kill yourself, and if they don’t fit, you can just return them to any Next store. I don’t know if they deliver overseas, but you can always order them into a store if you’re planning a trip.
Other sites I have found (excluding all the ones mentioned above) which occasionally offer acceptable styles for 10 and above (and by that, I mean shoes which don’t look like your buinon ridden grandmother’s or a trannie’s) are:
http://www.totallylargeshoes.co.uk
http://www.angelinetournier.co.uk
http://www.steptall.com
http://www.elledee.co.uk
http://www.kathrynkerrigan.com
http://www.josephazagury.com/ and http://www.stuartweitzman.com (ridiculously expensive designer shoes)
http://www.redoute.co.uk (scroll down to the bottom, click on “plus size fashion” and look at the shoes in their Taillissime range)
http://www.longtallsally.com (you can order from the website to avoid the shop)
http://www.largelifestyles.co.uk
One last thing – when in London, check out Kingsland Road in Dalston – its not the nicest part of London, kind of a downmarket Chiltern Street, but has a couple of shops, like GNG (580 Kingsland Road, London E8, 0207 254 4673), Billows (598 Kingsland Road, 0207 254 0087) and Panache (535 – 537 Kingsland Road, 0207 254 7976) which all go up to size 10 in some pretty nice styles
Lots of luck xxx
October 8th, 2006 at 2:31 pm
Hi!
I, too, know the joy of having discovered Chiltern Street! And I now know the joy of this site – how fantastic to know we’re not alone!!
However, it seems that Crispins is the only shop in the UK that have shoes in a size 10 that are narrow enough for me.
Recently, I had a bit of a disaster and returned from travelling to find that all of my shoes had been ruined by a leak (each shoe has it’s own little ecosystem – mmm. nice) My insurance won’t pay, as I was away for more than 30days and I therefore can’t afford to replace every pair of shoes with Crispins beautiful, but very expensive footwear!
As I live up North, it’s a bit of a hassle to have to go down to London every time I need a pair of shoes, and, after a bad experience with ordering shoes online with Tallgirls.com, I’d rather go to the shop.
Any suggestions?
October 17th, 2006 at 3:13 pm

The best bargins
Shoe zone high street store to try, they go up to size 9 at very affordable fast fashion boots and shoes. Fantastic prices!!!!
Evans have a new range of footware by georgina goodman beauifully designed footware for the larger foot. Evans footware is great too, because the shoes are in the sale after a short limited time. Watch out for the bargins.
Best of luck from suffering size 9 shoes alcoholic.

I design shoes in larger sizes. I set up the company because I wear a size 8.5/9 and found it difficult to find cute fashionable shoes in my size. I design on a larger last rather than the traditional size 4, to ensure my shoes and boots flatter larger feet (and make them look smaller). We sell shoes on-line at http://www.angelinetournier.com. All of our styles go up to a UK size 10 and heels have a maximum height of 6cm. We are based in London but deliver worldwide. Our other stockists are in the UK are: Saphari (Crouch End London) and Viva la Diva (e-commerce), and in France department stotre Le Bon Marche in Paris. Their addresses are on our site under stockists. Feel free to e-mail me if I can help further at info@angelinetournier.com.

October 30th, 2006 at 2:57 pm
Just found this, it only goes up to size 43 (UK9) BUT they are a boot manufacturer that has loads of different calf widths and lovely styles… http://www.duoboots.com

I have seen a few pairs of 9 wellies in tk maxx, but it is pot luck in this store.
Try the wellies in size 8 you may find that they fit, mail order by the web.

Thank you so much for all the tips!
I live in Sweden and here the range of big shoes is really really small. Luckily I’m going to London in a few weeks and I will visit a lot of these stores.

hello ladies, im doing a project with women with large feet as part of my degree. Having size 10 myself this is close to my heart! I am posting on here in the hope that some of you might be able to answer a few questions for me, part of my research. Hi Jo,
glad to answer any questions you may have.
My tale of woes comprises all of above but after 50 years of battling I have
not quite given up hope. Reading though this site raised my spirits whereas
normally trying to buy shoes is the best method of getting me down.
Regards, “Trudy”
November 12th, 2006 at 7:31 pm
hey “trudy” do you have an email address I can contact you on please?
Many Thanks
Jo
November 13th, 2006 at 12:33 pm
Hi Jo,
Your research sounds interesting – best of luck with it, and I hope that some of those who have commented on this post will be able to assist you with it. I would certainly be happy to answer any questions but I am in Ireland so that may be no good to you
Just for anyone who wishes to help Jo with her research, the best bet is probably to e-mail her at j.p.simpson {at} rhul {dot} ac {dot} uk rather than list your addresses directly here. There are a lot of spambots about unfortunately, so if you list your e-mail addresses here directly you could see an increase in spam.

I also have size 9 (43) feet. I think god made me this way as I would have a serious addiction to shoes and probably be bankrupt by now otherwise.
I hate internet shopping for shoes and the only shop I can go into is next although most of they hardly ever stock 9’s.
I have a few pairs from tallgirls.com as well.
I am trying to find nice flat boots for the winter and so far aldos and barefoottess are the only places i can find ok-ish ones.
It really p’s me off, 30 odd years ago size 5 was the average uk shoe size, yet the shops still went up to size 8’s. now the national average is 7, shouldn’t shoes go up to at least a 10?!!! *sigh* rant over. I think it would be worth the cost of designing my own and having them made. I’m 21 and destined to be casual in converse for ever!!!

Hi Saoirse
try http://www.duoboots.com . they are not cheap, but they have a shop on saville row if you’re near london. they go up to a size 43 and have a multitude of calf widths (that’s their speciality) good luck x

Thank-you thank-you Janine. I have added this page to my favourites & am going to look at all the websites suggested here. I cant get into London with kids in tow, so am desperate for online service that sells whole range of (dress, work, casual, pretty) shoes in my size for £30-45. I used to just get by in Size 42s, but after several pregnances my feet grew to size 43! It’s a wilderness out there for women with large feet. My feet arent wide, just long and perfectly in proportion with my height (5, 9 1/2″), there really is a huge unmet need out there for reasonably priced nice fashionable shoes! Usually those of us with bigger feet are taller and look perfectly glorious in our clothes so why on earth do shoe makers think we would we want to limit ourselves to blacklace ups or clumpy old lady shoes??!!

I can’t beleive how lucky you all are!, and what a great website.
I live in Australia, and you know those shops that sell shoes for your bunion ridden grandmother? well that is all there is for anyone over a size au10 (UK 8-9) Hush puppies and homi-peds all the way. I am so glad I have discovered this site, and internet shopping. I have found e-bay particularly good if you want to get cheaper shoes – they regularly have wide-fitting Evans listed.
If anyone, by anychance knows of any shops/websites in Australia that have fashionable wide-fit/larger shoes please tell!

I’m a 10 – 10.5 and live in the north east of england.
I’ve found a shop in Morley (near Leeds) that caters for;
sizes 5 to 11.5 in AA and B width fittings and sizes 9 to 12.5 in C/D and EE
They do one day events all over the country and have a web service if you can’t get to the shop or get to an event. http://www.medissashoes.com
P.S. They have a wedding shoe range as well.

I dont understand. This is all soooooo frustrating. Just came back from shopping. Bought nothing but nothing new there as never anything in both my size (8+) and daughter aged 11 (9+). Went to Faith saw loads of shoes we wanted. The assitant checked and of course none in our size. She stated Faith do size 9 but dont have any in the store, I cant order them as if there are less than ’seven’ pairs in the country they cant order them that includes on website! They get deliveries every day but dont know what they will be getting. How on earth do you buy them then. This isnt a store that sells size nine shoes. This is a store that says its sells size nine shoes.

LADIES
have you never tried the sites/shops for transvestites?
They have shoes up to size 15 (white stilettoes too, I kid you not!).
YEARS ago, my niece inherited her mother’s size 9 feet and these were the only places to go for anything at all pretty. Had to search thro the tarty stuff, but things were available: after all, entertainers have to get their pretties from somewhere….
Have manufacturers/retailers not realised that people are now much taller than even a few years ago, and feet grow to match?
A generation ago my sisters had what were considered HUGE feet, but size 9’s are now common – come on shoe shops; wake up.
Happy hunting – from someone with 6E width (duck) feet which are just as difficult to fit.

Its good to see all the web sites I take a size nine but use Oxendales in ireland their catalogue suits me well but I have a young friend of 15 who takes size 9 long narrow foot, she is in school in Co Kerry (eire). Is there any of these sites that cater for teenagers even if I could send for a catalogue and order on line
January 16th, 2007 at 9:03 am
HI yes
Cinderella Shoes(they are in Dublin) have a younger section but they do tend to be expensive. Try largershoes4less and also http://www.tallgirls.co.uk which I forgot to add to the list.

I have a teenage daughter who has size 9 feet at age 14. I am sure she will get bigger and am daunted by trying to find school shoes, never mind anything else for her. Some of the ‘cheaper’ shops have started stocking up to size 9 but all too often, as noted by others, they do not seem to fit well. However reading this site does give me a bit of hope for the future. What worries me about online shopping is the fact that shoe size fitting is so hit and miss. Even at a very ordinary size 6 i can try shoes on in several shops on the high street without finding a good fit. With online buying I can foresee buying loads and then having to send them back. Still if there is at least a chance to get some shoes then I,m sure we’ll take it. One good thing is that my daughter does not yet seem too bothered. It does not seem to have dawned on her that we are near the end of the line where high street shoe shopping is concerned- not such a bad thing I suppose!

this is fantastic, all women like to feel special but without the right size, u feel let down with shoe companies and even refuse ur date, also i came across and article, about NAOMI CAMPBELL, KATIE WINSLET, PARIS HILTON, UMA THURMAN,AND MANY MORE yes the all have different shoes sizes, but on thing i can say is that looking at them its all narrow fitting which makes it easier for them to pick any shoe, but for people with wide fitting u just can’t find beautiful shoes, so pls let us all come to the awareness that there is not comparison with them, wider feet women need their too, we are all women and need to be beautiful head to toe. i wonder what shoe size QUEEN LATIFAT wears, and if she can start designing shoes at reasonable price. i am a size 13wide, so girls, help out, i need to look sweet.
January 23rd, 2007 at 11:29 am

Peace
I am a US 12W, and can honestly say if I order from any UK site in a UK10 they always fit me. Not sure if your in US or UK, but the US has loads of choice far more than the UK. Check out the US shoes section in http://www.tallwomen.org there is plenty of choice for you.

Enough! My credit card can’t stand it any longer! Thanks to all of your suggestions. I am a 40 year old size 10 who has struggled for years to afford the shoes I want – Finally I can (sod the mortgage) to all of you who are in despair because you take a 13+ well all I can say say is – I know how you feel, I took a size 10 when I was 11, and 29 years ago there was not a pair of shoes in sight to fit me, granny style or otherwise.
My point is: Everyone is saying why don’t the shoe companies realise that the average size is increasing etc………….Well surely there is something we can do? Come on girls…..this is shoes we are talking about, what could be more important!!!!!? Why don’t we do something about it on mass? Interested? I’m more than happy to petition the big guys – but I need your help – email me at kerrybowles at hotmail dot com and let’s see if we can get this ridiculous overcharging for a couple of inches stopped once and for all. Come on what harm can it do?
January 30th, 2007 at 6:46 am
I live in Brisbane, Australia and have a size 44 narrow foot, up untill 2 years ago there were 3 shops to buy shoes in my size. Now they have all closed even though some had as many as 8000 customers. I now have to travel 2000 kms to purchase my shoes and even then it’s like finding a needle in a haystack as everyone has decided that people with narrow feet should from now on only go barefoot because apparantly here in land of OZ there are only woman with wide to very wide fittings and all the narrow lasts have been destroyed. All manufacturing has gone to China which means ill-fitting, bad quality, poorly made shoes are all thats left.
I thought we were a progressive nation where choice and quality would only improve in time instead we are regressing to a point where one size fits all.
Unfortunatly I live too far away for a London shopping spree. How I envy all you girls, don’t moan about how little choice you have, be happy that at least you have some, no matter how little or expensive… it’s better than nothing at all.
January 30th, 2007 at 10:03 am
Hi Erica
Dont dispair try http://www.tallwomen.org click on the shoe section and look at the Australia selection, there are 5 sites that you buy from. Hope you find something. I am a perfect UK 10 in a wide fitting and I have never had so many pairs of shoes in my life, I am obssesed with them because the internet has opened up so many choices. I have spent many an hour searching the globe for large sized shoes and am happy to report there is stack loads of styles/prices you can buy – you just need faith and although it may take some time to work out your perfect US/Europe size once you do you will be skint as the choice is now amazing.

Hi Jainine
I want to say a big thank you for creating this website there are so many useful links. Oliver Ashley’s staff say that their website is not operational at the moment and is not likely to be up and running for another 5 months or so.
I am planning a shopping trip in New York or Washington D.C. Could anybody suggest a shopping complex where there are a number of large size shoe retailers under one roof.
I am interested in visiting the Avenue and stores similar to Designer shoes, Zappos or Barefoot Tess. I would be thankful for any suggestions. I am a UK 11 (US 13) I have wide feet (E). In the past I have shopped at Crispins and more recently Magnus but my feet have changed from narrow to wide and now I am suffering even more. I have ordered the one E width shoe that Magnus have and I am going to take another look at Cinderella.
February 4th, 2007 at 10:17 pm

In reply to Kerry’s comment most definately the average shoe sizes are increasing When I was growing up size 8 was so hard to find and that was 40 years ago when I was starting to go out to dances you would think that after all this time size 9 would be plentiful. I know of least 5 teenagers that take size 9 what a torment it will be for them when they start doing out to dances . I have just sent to Oxendales (ireland) for 2 pairs of shoes for my friends daughter age 15 that are a ballet type shoe they are made by Viva La Diva .com the fit is size 9 E/EE but the beauty of these shoes there is a free pair of insoles with them so if your width size is less then E these will help. Hopefully they will suit what I like about them is that they are modern and not drab like some size nines are.
February 13th, 2007 at 4:07 pm

I design and manufacture shoes in larger sizes: you can buy them in London at Lollipop in Islington and Saphari in Crouch End, or directly on http://www.angelinetournier.com (we ship worldwide). If you have any questions about sizing or styles please feel free to e-mail me (details on our site). I test all the shoes and boots that I design in size 43 before they are manufactured. My favourite boots are the flat suede cuff boots in chocolate. My favourite shoes are the icecrean blue wedges. I create 2 new collections per year, one for spring summer and one for autumn/winter. The spring summer collection is now available on our site (see our site). If we are sold out of your size, feel free to e-mail me and we can arrange to manufacture another pair.

I have had my big size 9’s now d fitting since I was 11 years old, I am now 68 and cannot get anything other than echo’s, I have been trying for a pair of nice black loafers to wear in the evening with decent clothes and I am so p……. off, when are the manufacturers going to get it right, I am continually told by shop staff, well, the youngster’s of today have such big feet, but, we OAP’s dont want to wear great clumsy heel and sole shoes that are in fashion for them!!!
I am going to Manchester for the w/e of the 13/14th April, can anyone help, are there shops I should be looking at, eternally gratefull Patricia x
February 23rd, 2007 at 9:02 pm

In reply to Beth’s comment – I know this might not help much but when I was 11 I had size 10 feet – good job for me that they didn’t get any bigger, so fingers crossed that yours won’t either. All I can say is that things WILL get easier for you, I realise that it doesn’t help much yet, but at a size 9 in a few years time you will be wondering what all the fuss was about – just reading this blog it’s obvious that the shoe manufacturers are missing out on a fortune but don’t worry it’s my mission in life to change that! I know it’s been mentioned before, but it’s well worth looking at http://www.tallgirls.co.uk because they stock a large selection of shoes aimed at the younger market at affordable prices. Long Tall Sally are also introducing a much larger range too, although they tend to be a bit more expensive. I do know how you feel – you don’t want ’special’ styles, you just want the same shoes that your mates have, right? Hang on in there it will get better for you Kerry xxx

Thanks Janine for your very informative page on shoes. I have a friend visiting from Switzerland next week who asked me where she could find shoes in London (she is very depressed that it’s so hard to find larger sizes at home). Was delighted to be able to send her the link to this page, she is thrilled. Best wishes, Lila
April 10th, 2007 at 6:07 pm
It’s great that all these shops sell shoes for larger feet, but it’s still not good enough!
Surely it’s not too much to ask to be able go into a shop and buy a pair of fashionable shoes at the same/similar price as my friends. I don’t mind paying slightly more (as I guess they use a bit more material) but the prices that some of the places charge are rediculous and the shoes aren’t even nice!
Does anyone else end up wearing really frumpy clothes because they can’t buy decent shoes to go with the clothes that they really want to wear? I’m sick of the ‘oh but you look so pretty in dresses’ comments – people don’t seem to realise that i love wearing dresses/skirts, but simply can’t because of the shoes that I have to buy. I seem destined to wear black trousers/jeans forever!
Also is it me or does anyone else find that if you are lucky enough to find a pair of shoes in your size, they’re either completly horrible, have huge heels (which you don’t need when you’re 6ft!), are too wide in the foot/leg (just because I have big feet it doesn’t mean I’ve got fat calves!) or they’re just far too expensive?
Rant over – good luck with shoe buying!
P.S. Does anyone know where I can get a pair of ballet type pumps – I’ve tried the ones in Next and Dorothy Perkins (go up to size 9) but they’re too wide?
April 11th, 2007 at 9:28 am
hi big foot
try http://www.frenchsole.com – they now go up to a 43 and I think they are fairly narrow.
I agree I would love to walk into any shop and just buy my shoes without everyone making any comment etc etc
April 11th, 2007 at 11:37 am
Thanks Linda, these look lovely – if a little pricey but think I might treat myself!
April 11th, 2007 at 11:55 am
HI Big foot
let us know, what they are like and if they come up big or small narrow or wide, its always useful.
April 17th, 2007 at 7:11 pm
I’ve looked at some of the sites on here but am struggling to find any affordable work sandals for summer!
Does anyone know of any shops in the Brighton Area that might be worth a look? I know their Evans store does 10s but didn’t know if there were any others to try?
thanks
April 18th, 2007 at 12:44 pm
Have you got a Brantano near you? Their shoes are quite good
May 3rd, 2007 at 8:36 pm
Unfortunately, both Brantano’s and Evans have stopped doing 10s in my local stores! So travelling over to Brighton to look at their 10 range in Evans.
Getting bored of shoe shopping!!!!

Hi,
I’ve just come across a new shop in Camden, London – Piccollo Grande – they stock shoes at least to a size 10, and possibly higher. They don’t have a website as yet but they have some really interesting, pretty shoes (narrow fit, I’d say). They’re on Parkway, just a couple of minutes’ walk from Camden Tube. Open every day.
This blog has been a revelation – plenty of sites on here that I will be looking at, plus I didn’t know about the new place on Chiltern Street – will be heading up there tomorrow to see what they have. There are a few shops in Paris too, that might be worth a look – have a look at the Vive les Rondes website links here (it’s in French): http://www.vivelesrondes.com/?p=207 – they feature shops all over France and also have links to a few of the above-mentioned places in the UK.
I’ve struggled all my life to find decent shoes at a decent price – I take a size 9.5 to 10 depending on where I shop (although I have squeezed my feet into smaller sizes if I loved the shoes enough) and even though there is much more availability, I still cannot afford the prices in many specialist shops. I understand that it is more expensive to produce these shoes as they are made in smaller numbers, but still – given the number of comments on here alone and that I can count at least three friends with size 9+ feet – it seems mad that we are forced to pay a premium.
I emailed Boden about their plans to extend their range up to a size 9 or above and they said that they’d had lots of similar requests but weren’t planning to do anything about it. Eh???
May 8th, 2007 at 9:50 pm
Oh yes – Nordstrom is fantastic if you’re heading to the US – they have a huge range going up to a UK 11 or bigger. The nearest one to NYC is in New Jersey, have a look at the store finder.
Clarks sale shops are worth a look around too for the occasional size 9 – there’s one in Elephant and Castle and one in Peckham, just down from Peckham Rye train station, and if you’ve got a bit of time to spare hunting through the boxes, they’re pretty good.
Agreed about the bizarreness of them doing large sizes for overseas but not for here – what’s that all about?
May 11th, 2007 at 8:55 pm
Hi Ladies!
I’m a size 9 1/2 Wide fitting and live in Greece. Until recently I couldn’t find any shoes for me here and while visiting my friend in London I used to drag her for ever in search for shoes. My result is : Thnak you God for making Internet !!!! I have been saved by all the choices I have now and you have offered me some more so Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
May 13th, 2007 at 1:48 am
If anyone is interested, there is a great shop in Paris called the Palais de la Chaussure, website http://www.palaisdelachaussure.com. They do sizes up to a 44, and have a nice selection to choose from – exactly what you would expect from Paris, chic, modern styles. When shopping there, you really don’t feel as though you have to settle for second best on the style front – I have bought shoes which are actually nicer than those of my friends who have smaller feet! They are not cheap, but their prices compare to most “regular” shoe shops in Paris, and the quality of the shoes is excellent. You can browse and buy online, or order their catalogue and buy that way. But best of all, it’s better to actually go there.
May 15th, 2007 at 10:42 am
Hello ladies
Does anyone know of a UK website where you can buy/sell second hand shoes in large sizes? I so often buy big shoes and convince myself that they are the right shape and fit bacause there is no choice and then never wear them as they are simply wrong or uncomfortable…
thanks for any suggestions

Hi! I went to Paris not so long ago and spent hours looking for Angeline Tournier’s shop. They go up to size 44 and seem to have very nice shoes but are ridiculously expensive and there isn’t a shop, but a section of a department store and when I was there, they only had 4 or 5 styles.. That was all I managed to find, I’m afraid. I think there are two places in London that sell her shoes, too..
May 28th, 2007 at 2:31 pm
Check http://infosgrandes.ifrance.com/
Click on “Liens utiles” in the left menu.
Look down for Chaussures (Shoes) and go through the adresses. Some of the shoeshops must be in Paris.
Have a nice trip.
May 29th, 2007 at 9:02 pm
Try this website/catalogue, they do extra wide fittings up to eee, which is extremely helpful, and they have shoes that generally up to size 10 i think, but the good thing is it they cover all price ranges from £20 – £60+, sometimes the styles are a bit too old for me, when looking for party shoes, but for smart casual shoes you are on to a winner
May 30th, 2007 at 9:21 am
hi rolled you never left the website?
May 30th, 2007 at 9:31 am
some good news for all you big footed ladies, I have found a website called http://www.unze.co.uk – they have some very femine shoes in sizes up to an 11, They do come up wide, I am normally a size 10 but after buying the most beautiful evening shoes from them I am having to sell them to get them in a 9 as they are too wide. Not all the shoes go up to large sizes you have to go through all the collections to check the sizes. I wore my too big shoes to a ball on Friday and at least 8 women told me how much they loved my shoes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That has never happened to me before. Some of them are expensive £60 – £150 but there are also some around £30. If any one is interested in buying my size 10 black strappy shoes in a 10 wide please contact me at lindaebaker@btinternet.com they are on the website for £104. I have only worn them once so would want £50 for them plus postage. They are under the high fashion selection on the third page bottom left (picture of a girl) ref L8238 Click on it and choose black. They are beautiful.

Why doesn’t M&S sell larger size shoes. Their marketing people must be aware of the fact, that in each generation womens feet have been larger?!
June 25th, 2007 at 5:28 pm
Check out http://www.hennyjames.co.uk/ in their plus size section up to size 44.
Re: M&S, they did branch out into large womens shoes at the marble Arch branch a few years ago and then stopped…. due to “lack of interest”. Email them and complain, that’s the only way they get the message
July 2nd, 2007 at 5:13 pm
try http://www.janemart.com she is a lady that sells US size 12 and 13 which is a UK 10 and 11. She seems to get samples and last seasons stock. I have just ordered two pairs for £36 including ;postage!!!!!!!!!!! The dollar exchange rate is fab at the moment so a great time to buy from all the US sites. Again, go to http://www.tallwomen.org and check out the shoes section, both in Europe and the US. Also http://www.chigocalzature.com has some really nice shoes.

by the way, it’s http://www.Ghigocalzature.com not Chigocalzature

Hi there,
I know how you feel, as in germany the things aren’t good enough to be called best of.
But I have another store for you, http://www.shoes-xxl.com/ it’s the english site of a german store and it’s affordable and for me there are quite nice shoes. In my size (10,5/11) its less than in most of yours. This store has bought up nearly all german “big shoes” stores and now can deliver to about the half of what it did cost before buying such shoes. I’m sorry for some writing mistakes but have a look at that store.
Bye Claudia

hi, so good to read all these comments. My teen daughter is a size 9 ish and at the moment am not looking forward to school shoe trek. Just a tip_ have seen that brantano have size 9s and 10s and they let you order, have them delivered to the nearest branch and you only pay when you buy- so i’m going to order a selection in both sizes and styles for my girl to try.
Hope this is of some use to mums out there
July 21st, 2007 at 7:55 pm
Hiya,
Im a size 10, although sometimes I can fit into a size 9. Office go up to a size 9 in some of their shoes, and they definately have nice fashionable choices. If you are unable to find your size in the store, copy down the style number and then call up their mail order. They will be able to tell you whether the style goes up to a size 9 and which stores hold them.

Emma,
There is a website in America that do size 13’s you will need to look at size 15’s though as they’re 2 sizes bigger than us. http://www.designershoes.com They have a few styles and are very cheap, but you need to remember that anything coming in from the states is subject to tax, so you may need to pay duty to the post office before you collect the shoes if you do order any.
August 15th, 2007 at 2:27 pm

i am Uk 11 and have spent a fortune on shoes that do not fit. i long for knee high boots without a heel and massive calves. anyone know the best way to buy from USA, best sites, way to limit the duty?
September 16th, 2007 at 10:52 pm
shoes of your dreams, barefoottess and designershoes.com the sites are all listed on this page and someone has mentioned an organisation above that can act as a middle man for UK. Note that vat is added on and it can be an expensive process.
September 19th, 2007 at 2:37 pm
thanks so much for all this info. i’m a uk size 9 and am dreading the approach of winter, leaving the comfort of my flip-flops and cramming my giant clown feet into size 8 boots! have passed on the info to friend of a friend – she’s size 12 apparently, poor thing.
September 24th, 2007 at 12:29 pm
Hi all, im a size 10 and it drives me mad that I can’t just walk into a shop and buy whatever shoes I want (it doesn’t help that I work in a shoe shop where thats what ppl do all day!)
But, I was cheered up the other day. I was in barratts and got talking to the manager. He was saying that they now do ALL styles up to a size 9 and that within the next 4 years all shoes should be going up to a size 10!! All we need is for other shops to realise ppls feet are getting bigger and that the demand for bigger sizes is high and we’ll all be sorted!
Also, just to let you know of a shop that hasn’t been mentioned – Charles Clinkard (where I work) do some styles up to a size 9 (42) and they have even had some up to a size 11 (44). There are a few shops dotted around the country but there’s also a website- http://www.charlesclinkard.co.uk.
September 28th, 2007 at 2:38 pm
Grew up in Dublin (when even a size 8 was an issue), balked at the price vs quality on Chiltern Street… couldn’t be bothered with the hassle of mail order. and then I lived in Italy and found Ghigo Calzature in the centre of Milan – a cheap flight and a weekend trip from Dublin or London.
Their shoes are really well made, look gorgeous (in styles for everyone), and the prices are reasonable. No, not bucket shop cheap, but as my local shoe repairman says, you get what you pay for, whatever your size. They have two shops side by side (divided by a door) – one has the new range, the other a huge range of discounted shoes. (They also sell online, but the shipping rates are pretty expensive.) Up to size 46. Small sizes too.

I’m reporting back on my visit to Barefoottess.com, Avenue.com, Tall Size shoes of Fifth Avenue – website clarotalland wide.com. Me – size 11 (UK) E fit which is a 13 (US) . Barefoottess has a vast array of shoes numerous styles and colours for all occasions. If you have a narrow – medium foot you will be laughing and would not need to shop any where else possibly for the rest of your life. Unfortunetly there were less styles that came in wide fittings however 6 manufacterers cut their shoes more generously – Delman, Corso correo, French soles, matt Bernson and Bernardo. You can expect wonderful service and I speak as someone who hates the whole shoe buying experience. The owner Karen says that she intends to remove the shipping charge for overseas customers in the not to distant future. Finally this shop is out of the way you will need to take a cab from Baltimore station which takes about 15 minutes and a $15 fare.
The Avenue is New York’s equivalant to Evan’s although I think Evans has a bigger if not better selection to choose from. Shoes are cut generously – I bought a cloudwalker in size 12 WW and there’s still room in it. Shoes are more for day time wear and a few heels will take you through to the evening Shoes are leather uppers but boots are synthetic. Yuk! Prices are as low as £20 to £50. But they go up to13 WW.
Tall Size shoes of Fifth Avenue – my favourite shop – This shop is old fashioned in appearance but all the pumps he had on display barefoottess had them too – (she has much more). Have a good look and you will find a few pairs that you like. Lots of Comfort shoes but take a good look and you will find some pretty shoes. Clive the sales man understood my feet better than I do. Told me quite a few foot facts if you like – I thought a shoe that gaped at the sides ment it was too small I learnt that this ment it was too big. My foot needed to rest further back in the shoe. Most of the 13 E had been sold but it was the fact that he stocks the elusive 13E in the first place this to me equels potential happiness. I bought myself a black Van-Eli suede wedge loafer – fits me like a glove. Cost to me $100 which is about £50.00. The website has some shoes that are not available in the shop and some shoes may cost less on the web site. Overall my trip to the USA was not a great success I thought I would find big foot paradise. Sadly not so. Verdict possibly better luck sufing the net.
I will be pre-ordering my shoes for my visit next summer so that I will not be disappointed. If anybody has any other suggestions for stores in UK or USA that stock 11 or 13 Wide. Please list them.
October 19th, 2007 at 4:04 pm
Hi aggie, you really should visit http://www.talwomen.org – here you will find all the shoes shops in both Europe and the US that stocks your size. I am a UK10W and can buy lots of shoes online as I frequently do!!!!!!! In fact you could say I have a major shoe habit which I think is related to my childhood when I could only shop in Lillie and Skinner tall and small which sold truly awful cheap plastic shoes!! There is a new site call the tall lady which is listed and the lady who owns that buys quite a few of her shoes from barefoot tess and stocks the wide fitting ones you mention. Also if you try emotionshoes.co.uk I recently bought their wide fitting boots in a size 9 and they are still too big!!!!!!! Designer shoes.com also sells US 13W
Good Luck

Hi Aggie
I have also shopped at Barefootess But I bought about $7000 worth to put on my website here in the UK so that I could offer you my customers contact and ease of delivery in the UK. I also have quite a few pairs of shoes that would suit you, also from The US from a shop in New York that has closed down. I have some beautiful boots by Corso Como and I also stock a wide rage of the Emotion Boots and shoes. Linda ave the Tallwoman.org I am there. My website is http://www.thetalllady.co.uk Give me a try
Kind regards

I can vouch for Peta as I bought a beautiful pair of Stuart Weitzman shoes from the Tall Lady.co.uk and was then able to go to Russell and Bromley to buy the matching bag – I have never ever been able to do that before. Yes, its a lot of money but so worth it.

Ladies – I feel your pain. I’ve worn a size 12 shoe since I was in my twenties. All I can say is thank god for the internet. there are a multitude of websites out there that cater to our size. I’ve read some of the previous comments and they are right on the money about barefoottess.com. i just picked up a fantastic pair of size 12 knee high black boots AND a pair of calf hair zebra striped flats. try finding THOSE in any store. with the exchange rate between US dollars and the British pound you should be able to make some great buys. I know they ship international. Seriously, you need to check them out. You’ll be happy you did.
October 22nd, 2007 at 1:42 am
Thank you Linda and Peta for responding to my post. I am aware of the tall women site as well as Designer shoes.com but my mission was to visit stockists that had stores I could visit so I could try the shoes on. So that I could order with confidence from the UK and not go to the expense of having to return a pair of shoes if they did not fit. Unfortunetly for me finding shoes that are wide enough continue to be a problem. I have noted that Designershoes.com do stock wide widths but I find like many stores nicer styles are limited in the wider widths. But I am going to have a good browse on the net and see what I can come up with including your site Peta. P.s Linda I do remember lilly & Skinner’s tall and small range and I never knocked it because at that time the only other store I could shop at was Crispin’s and how I loved it so. I actually got compliments on my shoes then – (and I was a size 9) oh, God what happened?
Finally for those younger people having a difficult time looking for shoes. This maybe hard to believe but things are getting better in my teens it was rare to find shoes bigger than a size 8. You can find size 9’s in the Additions catalogue and Brantano’s are not bad for school shoes – they go up to a size 10.
And please chant this mantra – I must never wear shoes that course my feet pain or discomfort . . . . .
IAggie
October 22nd, 2007 at 11:08 am
Hi Aggi
I have always chanted the mantra unfortunately it didn’t always work, vanity some times got in the way. I also remember Lilley and Skinner Tall & small They used to do Roland Cartier in those days and I think I had a pair of courts in every colour for work. I have over the years discovered other shops to.Strangely enough, I never found anything in Crispins. Although I did try a few times.
As far a trying on is concerned, if you want to try several pairs of shoes, my delivery will allow you to order three pairs of shoes for the one postage price and we will refund £2.50 of the postage if you keep one and return the others ( see my delivery policy) at http://www.thetalllady.co.uk. some of my Emotion shoes and boots go to triple ‘E’ fit.
The Jemma and Joslyn range are also very good for the youngsters they go to size 11. I had to wear boys shoes to school from the age of 12 and I think it damaged me for ever!!!!!
Hope this helps

I went to Barratts at the weekend and was suprised to find that all their shoes go up to size 10
October 25th, 2007 at 12:02 am
I’m so glad I’ve found this website and thank you girls for all the amazing tips. I’ve been shopping in Next and Evans for a while but the shoes have been make do rather than something I really want. I do live in my birkenstocks over summer and they are very fashionable. I do have a bone to pick with shoe retailers- Size 9 is a 43 and not 42!!!! I think I might have to break my piggy bank as I’m off shoe shopping.
October 27th, 2007 at 1:16 am
Hi again!
As mentioned on a previous post, I am a postgraduate researcher at the Nottingham Trent University and I’m looking for participants to complete a research questionnaire on larger feet and shopping habits. I’ve already had a great response – thankyou!
If anyone else would like to participate the questionnaire can be found online, following the link below.
http://ess.ntu.ac.uk/sutton/formfiles/n0203604/largerfeet1.htm
I’m looking at women size 7 and upwards, and men size 12 and upwards (inclusive) and it shouldn’t take any longer than five minutes to complete.
Any responses will always remain anonymous and details will not be passed on to any other parties. I will be taking a read of the data on the 5th Nov, however it will remain open after this time and I will still able to accumulate the data.
If you have any queries regarding the questionnaire please contact me via the email jess finch at hotmail dot co dot uk.
Many Thanks, Jess

We manufacture shoes for quite a few well known brands and do a range of boots at http://www.thebootfits.com with larger calf sizes, which the public can buy. May be of some interest !
November 2nd, 2007 at 5:16 pm
I’d just like to add to the useful comments above that Shelleys of London has a fair few shoes up to about 9 (is that the same as 42)? They definitely have up to 42 in quite a few styles, including cute and not too expensive ballet pumps, that sort of thing. I’m a 9 and I’ve bought a couple of pairs there which are comfortable and cute. Bigger than that I don’t think they have, I’m afraid. Unfortunately, the huge Shelleys at Oxford CIrcus closed, but I think there’s another one farther along Oxford Street, there is definitely one in Covent Garden, and I think Barratts on Oxford Street has some of their shoes too.
I grew up in Canada, have lived in the UK for two years, and before that in Ireland for 3 years. Things may have improved in Canada since I left as far as larger shoes, but it was truly dire when I was growing up. I wore men’s shoes, or shopped in Europe (especially Germany and Scandinavia) when we went there, etc. The chain Tall Girl does have large size shoe stores too, and Payless, which has already been mentioned, can be pretty good. They’re definitely cheap and cheerful–some of their shoes are really cute, last surprisingly well and are dead cheap, but some of them are also surprisingly ugly, and you might end up with something you like but which falls apart quickly–though if you paid something like 20 CAD for them it doesn’t hurt as much!
As far as the expense, I almost only buy shoes on sale. Certainly from shops such as Crispin Shoes. It limits you more, of course, but I’ve had some lovely shoes from those shops which I just couldn’t have forked out for at full price, and I’ve found that even if I only look at the sale stuff I often find more pairs I like than I even need!
November 2nd, 2007 at 5:30 pm
Oh yeah…I have a beautiful pair of heels which I bought at Jones Bootmaker, who also go up to 9 for some shoes at least. THey’re good quality and they have good sales. By the way, I only started wearing heels a few years ago, being insecure about being 6 foot tall, but now I have several pairs with heels in varying heights and I find them quite fun to wear. I’ve mostly received positive feedback! (admittedly mostly from women…most men run a mile from women who are as tall as I am even in my bare feet). Though on more insecure days I do wonder if I look like too much of a tall freak when I wear heels, I’m afraid…
November 5th, 2007 at 12:18 am
Hi all
I too wonder how I look in heels on those insecure days, but at the end of the day , we are what we are and we just have to make the most of our enviable attributes. Everyone I know is smaller than me and are pea green about my height and my long legs. I know most would rather be taller than they are, so come on girls love the boots (or the bare feet for that matter) we are in. and celebrate our good fortunes. There are a lot of folk out there who would love to be every bit as gorgeous as we are and of course there are quite a few of us now trying to make it easier to get the shoes and clothes to fit by starting new business doing just that. The choice for us is growing every day. By the way 42 in my book is an 8 and 43 a 9 , 44 is 10 and 45 an 11 that is how http://www.thetalllady.co.uk promote the sizes and I am a 44 or 45 depending on the make, US 12 or 13!!!!
The best way to check is to measure your foot as advised on my site and then you can be sure you have the right size.
I would be interested to know what size the afore mentioned bootsfit.com go to. My autumn boot event is worth a look for choice and value for money.
While we are doing quotes try this one
” Give a girl the right footwear and she will rule theworld” Bette Midler.

hi guys i want to order from barefoottess. how do i go about shipping costs? what should I expect.
Also I am in new york this weekend, well new jersey really, any tips of where to go for shoe shopping, I am a UK 11.
thanks guys; this site is a saviour
November 5th, 2007 at 12:24 pm
hi tanya = look at tallwomen.org and check out the US shoe section and you will see where all the new york shops are. Also if you want to buy from Barefoot do it when you there and get them sent overnight to you in NY as the shipping will be free. I am sure if you call them they can deliver to a hotel. The best shoe site is probably zappos.com they will delivery free to a US address overnight, so you could try loads and send them back if they are no good at much cheaper rates. Let us know how you get on and best to get your credit limit extended!!!!!!!!!
November 6th, 2007 at 1:43 pm
Just found this site http://www.verdezenzero.com – really stylish looking shoes both ladies and men 42 – 46.
November 6th, 2007 at 7:43 pm
Hi!
Thank you all so much for the advice that’s been coming up on this site. I’m a little wary of buying shoes online, but will give it a go. Before I do, though, do all of these sites cater mainly for wider fittings? The only places I can find shoes that fit my feet are Crispins (expensive) and the one across the road, whose name I forget. Still, better two shops than none, as it was when I was a teenager!
If anyone knows of any others that have nice shoes that are long but not wide, please tell!!
November 6th, 2007 at 9:53 pm
Hi Lucy
I can understand your feelings re buying online, I felt the same and now I have a website!!! The only way to go when retailing in a niche market is via the web today. You have to try and reach as many people as possible and I live in rural Somerset so my wonderful selection of shoes would only be available to a very few if Ionly had a shop in Wells for instance. I have tried to make sure my customers can get the best fit possible and as there so many different companies involved in the manufacure of shoes, there are no sure fire answers, hovever I always suggest that if there is any doubt about size and width then follow the measuring guidelines on the site
1. Get a piece of paper A4 and put your foot on it, trace around the foot and then measure your foot length from the heel to toe.
2. Take a tape around the widest part of your foot and this will give you the circumference of your foot.
I always find this works for me. I am 10.5″ length and 9.5″ around the foot.
I usually find a 10 fits well. I do sometimes find I need an 11 but I can also get into a 9 in some styles too.
At http://www.thetalllady.co.uk I offer the opportunity to order up to 3 pairs of shoes on the one delivery so you could try both sides of your assumed size. We will then refund part of the postage on your returning the shoes you don’t want.
I have some narrow styles in at the moment Van Eli-Ramona , Calgarius Caldor (very narrow) Claudia Ciuti – Serenanta are all quite narrow. Also Jasmine, LoLo, Suzy, Minolta and Elsie are quite a narrow fit. Please try these because I am sure we can help you will find what you are looking for. You can always give me a call if you have any questions. We welcome our customers contacting us for help.
The problems with the larger sizes as with all sizeshoes is the vast array of styles and manufacurers, they all differ and there doesn’t seem to be an overall standard, but I think this applies to most clothes and shoe today
Happy shopping
Peta

I’ll have a look!

Hi Lucy,
have you had a look at findthatshoe.com?
They are reasonably priced and some of the models cater for a narrow foot.

Hi all,
I’ve started a blog – http://sizeninefeet.blogspot.com/ – and am hoping to collate a list of all the decent large size shoe shops all over the world. From my own research I’ve found a fair few in the Netherlands and Belgium – prices aren’t cheap but they do ship internationally and have a far better range than the usual fare we see in England. I’ve added everything I’ve found so far but would welcome all suggestions for new additions as I go along. You can also read and empathise with my battle for fashionable yet comfortable day-to-day shoes and boots that don’t look like an ad in a Sunday magazine (polyester slacks, anyone?). Janine – I have put a link to this blog on there, hope you don’t mind.
Cheers
Emma

Hi Emma,
It’s Sunday afternoon and I have spent most of the day re-sizing photos for my website http://www.thetalllady.co.uk. So I was delighted to see there was a comment on Janine’s blog. It sounds as though you have experienced the sort of luck I used to have. It is for this reason I threw caution to the wind and decided that perhaps I could help and started up my own website The Tall Lady (I appreciate the link thanks)
Please take a look at the boots and career sections on my site I don’t think I have any polyester type ads anywhere!! I have had to have a pair of every one of the styles from Hogl too (Austrian, very unknown and undersold in the UK. Also very inexpensive £60.00 to £75.00. They just have to be tried.
Give us a call of log on to http://www.thetalllady.co.uk and I think you will be pleasantly impressed
Regards
Peta

Hi Emma,
Great stuff and you can link to me as often as you like
Your blog is a great idea and is badly needed (as the amount of comments here shows) so best of luck with it! I have been wanting to start a site dedicated to this issue for some time, but whether I ever have the time to get it off the ground is another thing

Hi again Emma
I see that you are a sub-editor, may I ask what field. I am trying to contact as many magazines and such like to get my website http://www.thetalllady.co.uk some exposure. very difficult getting anyone to give you a mention. Perhaps you can help

Thanks ladies – positive comments very welcome as I got banned from the very useful Vivelesrondes forum for posting a link to my blog!
Hi Peta – I am a sub-editor for a mortgage magazine unfortunately so unless there are any cross-dressing mortgage brokers it’s unlikely I’d be able to sneak a link in there
– I have been very impressed with your site however so will be having another look come payday! Have you tried Daily Candy for a mention? They have a great mailing list that I’m on with all sorts of goodies.
I shall also add Amber and Jade to the list. Keep ‘em coming!

Hi, I have just listed some large sized shoes on ebay for sale. They are all very nice and fashionable and in sizes 9 and 10. Go to ebay’s website and then click on ‘community’ on the top right hand corner. On the next page type “nkechi1979″ in the box where it says enter a user ID.
I hope you like them

All the shoe stores you have mentioned have dowdy shoes. Do these people think that women with big feet don’t wear sexy stacked heels? Peeptoe purple suede with a satin bow tied around my calf? I’m 5ft 9ins tall and I take a 42/43 so I can occasionally get a pretty shoe (most bought over the internet from the US!).
Come on manufacturers. Women with Big Feet like sexy shoes too! Prada, Gucci, Dune, Bertie, LK Bennett, Karen Millen! Come on we want size 43!
December 6th, 2007 at 12:37 pm
Hi bigbutsexyfeet, have you visited http://www.thetalllady.co.uk There are designers catering for our bigger feet. and I have a few on my site. Most of the designers I have are US based but they do make the shoes in larger sizes and I am doing business with them to get those style of shoes here for us. I have a range of very sexy shoes from UNZE, LINDA PRITCHER, CLAUDIA CUITI, OLIVIA ROSE TAL, & J RENNE to name but a few on my site. I do agree too that a lot of the shoes are just so unsuitable for us. I am 6ft size 10 feet and have a condition called lymphoedema in both legs but that does not stop ME wanting sexy footwear either. I lke to think that my range of shoes and boots has something for all tastes. Sadly the likes of Prada et all do not see the BIGGER picture in any of their shoe or clothing products. but some of large shoe passionatas are really on the case big time, believe me, I chase manufacurers constantly. I am striving to be the Jimmy Choo for the size 11’s!!!!!! Perhaps you could email me through the website and let me know just what styles you like and I will see if they are available. Hi girlies, what an amazing blog! I’m so frustrated with trying to find large size shoes to fit my size 10 feet. Just found http://www.amberandjade.com and tried a pair. They are amazing, having never had any decent or trendy shoes before, I’m mega chuffed. They’re really nice, all leather and everything. As I’m sure there are other larger-footed women out there, thought I’d share my good new.s

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Soooooooo, fed up with feet! I want to walk into a shoe store, no, walk past a shoe store, look in the window, go ‘wow I love you!’ walk in and buy them! Yes Evans is great for shoes but if they dont have your size in stock, have you tried ordering them? Dont know why they bother with an order book as I have NEVER had a pair arrive into stock. Evans in Hemel Hempstead (the next nearest town to me) have completely stopped doing size 10 now. They never have what I want online, its always OOS and I drove my mother so crazy the other week, she said, lets drive to BRent Cross and have a look! So we did, they ahve moved to the retail park outside the mall and now have an equally tiny shoe section as the Watford store.
Big foot cross, big foot want to smash, big foot fed up being nice about it. MAKE SHOES BIGGER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don’t despair Sole-demon. There are larger shoes for us girlies out there.
This blog lists quite a number of them sites and together there they carry a good selection of shoes for all tastes and ages. If your not sure what to order just contact them I’m sure they’ll all be glad to help.
Why not take another look at FindThatshoe.com you may be suprised at what you find.
Stay positive things are getting better.

Hi Sole Demon
I understand your frustrations completely and Stephanie is right, things are getting better for us. I drove all the way to Northampton from Plymouth not so many years ago!!!! I don’t have to do that now.
I also have size 10, I thought I was a 9 until I started my online business http://www.thetalllady.co.uk . Now I have discovered I am a 10 really and the bliss of being able to CHOOSE a pair of shoes for my needs rather than taking what is on offer from a very poor range of styles. The are are some great bargains on the site so take a look. Give us a call we are more than happy to help and find a shoe to fit you.

Hi
I have just found this great website. I am an english 10.5/American 12. A great shop in the UK is Ellie Dickins – based in Hungerford they also mail. The website is not always up to date but call them and they will send you a brochure. Ellie the owner also has big feet so is great to deal with. I have always found them very helpful and reasonably prices.
Stuart Weitzman in the US also do larger sizes but they are expensive.

Hello girls!
I am Eleni from Greece and I have a Euro size 44. Below I list some sites in which you may be interested:
http://www.shoebuy.com
http://www.afternineshoes.net
http://www.samantashoes.com/
http://www.jrenee.com
http://www.delmanshoes.com/
http://www.piccoligrandinumeri.com/
http://www.ninewest.com
I have ontained a US address via myus.com and I have already baught shoes from zappos, payless, nordstom and largefeet and ninewest.
The only problem is that I really don’t understand the size convertion: I wear a 44 EU size as I said. The first pair of shoes I ordered was from magnus shoes and it was a UK10. But in other sites the UK10 is Euro 43. I feel totally confused. Perhaps you could help me with that…I have visited many UK sites as the http://www.thetalllady.co.uk is but I don’t know what size to order….:(
January 17th, 2008 at 9:08 am
Oh! And I forgot to tell you something about Amanda shoes that can be found in designershoes.com …. Amanda shoes run notoriously small!!! I ordered a pari of size 12 and it fits to a 40-41 Euro size! Be careful! Anyhow, designershoes is a great site with excellent customer service.
January 20th, 2008 at 10:55 pm
Thank God! I have size 43 feet and when will shops get it through their heads that a uk 9 is a 43 not a 42!!! I just keep walking into shops and finding a size 9s that never fit!
What a wonderful forum this is. We should form a BigFoot-ed Community!!!
January 24th, 2008 at 3:32 pm
My 17yr old 6′ stunning daughter has given up shoe shopping, she takes a size 44/45 .I have to say the larger sizes that are on offer by mail order or online are fairly depressing being totally unfashionable and out of touch with current trends. We would like a pair of shoes that doesnt have an inside label referring to her size eg. elephant feet, tall girls, long tall sally etc. I understand the choice will always be fairly limited but a lot of the styles that are available are frumpy and of poor quality, the UK seems to vary greatly from USA and European styles.I have just been looking at French sole which are beautifully made although a little more expensive. They are setting up an online website for larger sizes in the spring and you can register your email address with them it is http://www.pirouetteshoes.com
January 24th, 2008 at 5:53 pm
I am going to reply to two blogs today:
1st: size 44 is a 10 UK which is a 12 US but as I mention on my site http://www.thetalllady.co.uk any queries about sizeing is more than welcome as having the size 10 problem myself, I have faced the same dilemma many times when wanting to order. I am keen to help where I can and offer up to three pairs of shoes for the same carriage cost with a £2.50 refund postage on the order is two pairs are returned, so you can order a 9, 10 and 11 to try. I have do this because no manufacturer regardless whether UK European or US have any has a standard sizing policy so it can be a bit hit and miss and they all seem to differ it can be a minefield but I am here to help.
I also agree with Chiara 43 is a size 9!!!!
Now to Lizzy
I wish your daughter would look at my site the flat ballerinas by designers such as Sam Edleman and Steve Madden to name a couple, they are perfect for the youngsters such as your daughter. they certainly are not in any way frumpy I also have some great size 11’s by Ravens these are made in Spain and are in sizes 42-8, 43 -9, 44-10 and 45-11.
I hope this helps you Lizzy and I would welcome a call 01761 221858

Just wanted to sympathise with “Sole-Demon” and say ..yes, it’s so hard to be nice. How many times have we had this conversation
“Hi. Do you have these in a size 9″
No. But our 8s are big.
“Yes, but I’m a size 9″
Why don’t you try the 8?
“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH”
or
“Do you have these in a size 9?”
Assisstant says “yes” and produces a pair of 42s
“These aren’t 9s”
Yes they are.
“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH”
I know it’s not their fault, but I would still like to scream at these sales assistants. “Oh well. Never mind. Thank you” is starting to choke me. Perhaps we Bigfoots should go on the rampage ……….
January 26th, 2008 at 8:04 pm
shops should automatically have big shoes because not every one is a short size 3 person???? no one is the same the campaign would be brilliant but all the shoes suggested are expensive for the extra bit off rubber and synthtic matireal-
January 26th, 2008 at 10:40 pm
I have to say that I give thanks daily that I am a size 9/9.5 and the shoes are expensive because if I had normal-sized feet I’d be bankrupt several times over and would have entire rooms dedicated to my shoe collection.
As it is I’m planning trips to Rome and Madrid for a little shoe shopping
I’ve updated my blog with some Italian sites. I’m also looking at Scandinavian sites so if you have any suggestions, please send ‘em through.
January 26th, 2008 at 10:41 pm
Oh and yes – 9 is a 43. Not a 42. Shops that don’t get this annoy me – I noticed that Faith and Shellys now say they do a size 9, but it’s a 42. That’s an 8! The Europeans seem to grasp this, why can’t our shops?

January 27th, 2008 at 9:46 am
emma, you do make me laugh – I too am rather glad my feet are big, as I have a dreadfull shoe habbit born of not being able to buy nice shoes like my friends for the earlier part of my life. Have looked at your blog, and under the italian shoes section you list Stuart Weitzmen, however these are sold from Zappos’s in the US who do not deliver to the UK – Some people do sell them in the UK such as Crispins and The tall lady, but Zappos do both the narrow and wide fit and I just wish they would deliver to blighty. Yes they are expensive but they are fabulous, just like the taryn rose brand.
January 27th, 2008 at 2:07 pm
Hi Linda
As you mention, I do have some Stuart Weitzman that I bought for the business in the US from a 3rd party. I tried to get them to supply me with large sizes directly so that I could offer a better price for the UK market, I got a very short reply from them saying they were not interested in doing business with us here in the UK!!!!
I found this rather profound and short sighted as the market here could be massive. This seems to be a common problem as far as large sizes are concerned. In answer to Amber: The problem is that the average sizes are made in huge numbers and to produce what is known as a last for the large size is very expensive and they don’t make as many, it’s not just a bit of extra rubber etc that makes them expensive. The cost of a new shoe size can cost £1000’s but the more they make the less they cost thus you can buy shoes in small sizes cheaper. I my experience I have always had to pay more for everything, clothes, shoes, airline seats, et all!!!
There are more manufacturers in Europe now catching on but the shoe industry in the UK is all but gone. Most of the shoes and boots on my site are made in India, imported from the US or made in Spain, Italy or Germany. We just keep looking to bring them to you here in the UK as we don’t want you buying shoes from Italy or the States rather than from us
I AM on the case honest!!!
In point of fact the Hogl range which is German is a brilliant example of quality, style and price. They are just not very well advertized here. They are adding to the large sizes all the time but we have to pay extra per pair to carry the stock. I have a pair in every style which brings me to the Imelda Marcus syndrome!!!! We have all been so starved or choice for so long it is hardly surprising we have started to behave like most of the normal females I know!!!

isnt there something we can do about the prices of these shoes because its really like taking advantage of people with the bigger foot, even pumps look abnormal as they make the toe shapes different so it comes half way up the foot! still the shoes specializing for the larger foot the styles yet again arnt full upto date unless they epect a young person to pay 110 pounds for a pair of shoes. would writing in to stores like marks and spencer and jones the bootmaker seeing if they could creat a line of shoes like tall and small or something like that do you think that’ll work??
January 27th, 2008 at 7:20 pm
is there anyway feet can be made smaller?? via operation or something like that?????..???
January 27th, 2008 at 11:28 pm
I must admit to feeling terribly smug when a friend asked me where I got my lovely new Semler boots (the ones pictured on my blog) from, as I had to break the news that they were only available in size 8 upwards.
I wonder if in ten years’ time shops might have cottoned on to girls needing bigger sizes and we might be able to shop for shoes normally with our friends? Is it really such a ridiculous idea??
January 28th, 2008 at 9:31 am
my best thing is that i bought a pair of stuart weitzman shoes from the tall lady then I was able to go to russell and bromley and buy the matching bag (expensive I know) so for the first time ever I felt like a normal person and so every time i was asked where I got my shoes and bag Iwas able to say russell and bromley!!!! childish but fabulous.

i know that cripsins sell a wide range of stuart weitzman – do they have to buy from a third party as well then?
January 28th, 2008 at 11:02 am
Linda
Sorry I do not know the answer to that one
January 28th, 2008 at 11:10 am
hi Peta
it doesnt make sense does it? I dont like going to crispins as I dont find them very friendly. They stock a lot of them so would be suprised if they are buying through third party. When i contacted Stuart weitzman direct they told me to go to Zappos and use a freight forwarder – very helpful!!
January 28th, 2008 at 11:59 am
Hi Linda
I contacted Zappas last year when I was trying to find my stock and they do not do wholesale, I also contacted Stuart Weitzman to see if they would deal with me direct but they were not interested in what they claimed was the european market or me!!! at this time. Looking at the prices of the SW’s in this country and the US, mine are a bargain!!!! I don’t know at this stage if I will have any more though.

Lola, I am with you on the campaign, what about store targating, we confirm a date when we all send an individual email to M & S for example. Continue until all the major shoe stores have heard from us.
February 9th, 2008 at 8:22 pm
aggie- thanks but when will this go ahead because its kinda desperate and the choices arent that wide in many stores that do and if they do then they are the wrong size of 9 they are size 8
February 9th, 2008 at 11:22 pm
Hi Lola and Aggie
I have read both of your blogs with interest and I would like to point out that there are many of us who have big feet for over 40 years. When I was in my teens there was really NOTHING available. I think my fellow large footed chums will agree that it is a waste of time trying the stores mentioned and this is why quite a number of us have started our businesses in order to help you. We have difficulty in finding manufacturers to supply us but we have managed to reach most who will help us.
M & S and such will probably never stock the large sizes however much we badger them because of the investment they have to make and the fact that they will not sell enough pairs to make any money. Yes I agree that some of the large size specialists are more expensive than the high st, but this applies to most things when we are taller or larger or have longer legs or larger feet. In fact any thing that is not average, you usually have to pay more for. it is a fact of life. There are a bunch of us here trying to help you. so why not give some of us a try. We ACTUALLY have the goods for you

February 10th, 2008 at 7:43 pm
but the thing is that im not over 40- im a teenager and i dont get enough pocket money for 70 pounds a term for school shoes and htey are ugly- and very basic and they are not the sort of things i want to wear when i go out with my friends because they are clunky – do these big feet shops every have a sale? but why are they so expensive ? i mean you can get a pair like any other in every size upto 8 for cheap- its discusting that the shops dont have anything suiterd for the younger trends in beigger sizes yes i understand that the hight of people these days isnt an average thing but there are more people with big feet probably than there are with tiny feet. this is the 21st century and we are not geishas who have to make their feet stay small with block shoes. we gots to do summin people!!! gosh! many thanks- Awesome cheddar cheese
February 14th, 2008 at 5:48 pm
I agree with cheddar cheese, while there are online and specialist stores sellin larger sizes, these tend to be suited to the 30+ market and WAY to expensive for young people.
Im 21 and want to wear the same shoes that all my mates can get – i tend to do ok in Barratts with cheapo ballerinas n the odd pair in evans (altho these tend to be too wide).
I realise that the high cost is due to the manufacturer having to buy the bigger last to make the shoes on, however I dont particularly want good quality leather shoes (not old enough or rich enough to care yet!), I just want fashion shoes that you can get in any high street shop in my size.
I just keep crossing my fingers that one day it will get easier, and in the meantime buy whatever shoes I can get my hands on that fit and are not old lady clumpy things!!
February 21st, 2008 at 8:25 am
couldnt we forward this blog to some big high street names and let them know how the big footed girls have a hard time because theres so many of us
February 21st, 2008 at 3:56 pm
Hi Cheddar and all,
I am glad you still find this blog post useful.
I will soon be setting up a specialist site dedicated to info on finding shoes in larger sizes. I hope to start a campaign which people can sign up to and I will then send it to retailers / shoe companies. There will also be a listing of shops stocking larger size shoes, and a proper forum where people can chat about their experiences and share info.
Any suggestions for what types of features the site should have are gratefully received! Either reply here or e-mail me at janine@janinedalton.com – Thanks!

Hello all,
I have an 11 year old daughter and she is already a size 8. I had her feet measured at Clarks recently with a gasp from the assistant, then she proceeded to bring out the only pair of size 8 school shoes there were – yuk is all I can say to that!! I am worried as she is so young she wants young pretty fashions, can anyone tell me how big ladies shoes go up to? I am worried about her rapidly growing feet and the lack of shops that stock large and pretty shoes. Good luck to all of you!
February 25th, 2008 at 3:30 pm
Hi Suzie
there are now a lot of online shops that go up to a size 11. The only problem is that they do tend to be for grown ups, and quite expensive. both my daughter and my niece have size 6/7 size feet and are also both 11. I think that its becoming less of a big deal as feet are definately getting bigger. I would recommend you look at http://www.tallwomen.org and on there is a list of UK based shops selling larger sizes. Also if you are ever planning to go to america there are lots of places there to buy big shoes. The other shop I would recommend is barefott tess.com – they have great sales and shipping costs is not too bad at £22. They are very helpful and the shoes are quite trendy. For example I bought a pair of shoes from them that are on sale in three different shops in the UK for upward of £69 but I bought them from barefoot for a total of £42 including shipping and they are fab. I wish your daughter well and most of all tell her its no big deal, she will be lovely and tall.

February 25th, 2008 at 4:12 pm
Hi Suzie
have you tried http://www.thetalllady.co.uk ? I have new stock just in up to size 11 and some very reasonable young styles too
February 25th, 2008 at 4:40 pm
hello suzie. i am only 13 and i already have a 9/10 sie foot so theres not much you can really do.
February 25th, 2008 at 6:36 pm
Hi Suzie
definitely the best place for young fashionable shoes in larger sizes is tallgirls.co.uk. They have a limited selection of size 8 shoes, but at least she can look forward to her feet growing to size 9 so she can access a bigger selection! You’ll never get the choice you have on the high street but these are more affordable than some large shoes and there’s definitely some young styles – glittery ballet pumps etc. They also have a school section.
February 25th, 2008 at 9:03 pm
Hi Suzie
I have exactly the same problem- my nearly 15 year old is a size 9/10 and is very tall which I suppose goes together. She actually does not worry about her foot size (but i do because I know how difficult it is to get shoes) but hates her height. In actual fact we do not find clothes a problem at all because so many shops do longer lengths. My favourite for swimming costumes is BHS who do longer length costumes in styles which are great for school. I do think things are better for shoes even over the last few years- a lot of the cheap shoe shops do up to a size 9 now although they are pretty poor quality although I have to say they are very cheap and so I can live with them wearing out quickly. Just hope she stops at 9. I console myself with the fact that she clearly is not unusual and with so many online shoe shops I think there will always be the opportunity to get something vaguely trendy. Good Luck
February 26th, 2008 at 1:01 pm
Hi Linda, Peta, Cheddar Cheese and Karen. Thanks for your help, I will definitely check out some of the links suggested. Like you Karen, my daughter isn’t worried about her shoe size but dislikes her height, I keep telling her tall is beautiful but I do worry about finding affordable shoes. I will check out tallgirls.co.uk and also Linda and Petas suggestions, I feel heaps better knowing we are not the only ones out there with this problem of finding shoes – you would think more high street shops would catch on to the idea that our children are getting taller. All the best to you. x

Have you checked this site out? http://www.tallwomen.org/shoes
Thats how i solved my shoefinding problem
March 4th, 2008 at 4:49 pm
Lola, sorry for the delayed response, thankfully Janine seems to have the handle on the idea for a campaign. Peta, I disagree that it is a waste of time campaigning. I believe that an organised pressure group would get a result. Even if only a marginal one. I have also had big/bigger feet for over 40 years. The situation as it stands is currently a massive improvement. I really had a hard time buying shoes for school as a child. My 11 year old daughter wears a size 9 and is able to buy her school shoes from Brantano – Fortunetly to date I have not had to pay more than £35.00 a pair. We can no longer shop at Clarks. I am aware that there are a few other shops but my daughter’s feet are also wide so I am not sure how successful we are going to be when she out grows Brantanos. I am not willing to pay exorbitant prices for her shoes which last less than a term and I am confident that the situation will get better.
Finally, it is not that I am reluctant to use the services available but my choices are limited by my 11 E width feet.
March 4th, 2008 at 6:14 pm
im 13 ya know aggie and i have 9/10 size feet and they are quite narrow- if you kid has wide feet i suggest you try evans – they gots wide shoes for cheap. i wrote to the bbc and forwarded this blog to them. it was easy so i hope this. but we must campaing for is is not being a waste of time. i like cheddar cheese! whaoooo
March 6th, 2008 at 9:32 pm
WELL OBVIOULSY PETA DOESNT WANT TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT CAMPANIGNING COS SHES MISERABLE!!!! SHE DONT WANT THE NEW GENERATION TO HAVE COOOL SHOES!!!
March 7th, 2008 at 11:30 am
Hi bigfootedbabe Quite the contrary, I have just come out of retirment to start a business purely for all large footed ladies young or older. I have been campaigning for years and finally got so fed up I decided to something about it hence the site http://www.thetalllady.co.uk. I welcome comments via my site so I can try and find the sort of shoes you are looking for but until you tell me I buy what I think so I could do with some help please. I need more info from you the customers and then we can try. I think this is already a campaign don’t you??

Hello there Cheddar Cheese,
Thank you for your contribution and your suggestions that my daughter and I try Evans. Reading your posts have made me smile. I have bought shoes at Evans for myself in the pastbut when I last took my daughter to Evans she almost wep’t and was horrified that I was trying to force her to wear ‘Granny’ shoes. I could not persuade her to try anything and for the past 2 years we have bought her shoes from Brantanos. I ordered some really nice shoes from Next on line in size 9 but they fitted more like an 8 and since then we have bought her shoes at Brantanos.
I am going to show her your post in the hope that this may convince her that Evans shoes have some street cred and perhaps we can begin broadening her choice.
Finally, Cheddar you sound really sweet and I am impressed by your determination and initiative in bringing our plight to the attention of the Beeb. Bigfootbabe we are all in this boat together. Lets not make enemies of one another.
March 7th, 2008 at 12:06 pm
Cheddar Cheese,
I forgot to add my daughter is around 5.8 tall – she buys her tights in M & S. A Pack of 5 Ladder Resistant tights will cost you £3.50 and they do last. Hope this helps.
March 7th, 2008 at 12:20 pm
you could also try http://www.laredoute.co.uk, a french mail order company. If you look in plus-size and then choose shoes and accessories they have a number of good-value, trendy styles that go up to 45…
March 7th, 2008 at 4:24 pm
Does anyone know off any UK shops that sell size 8.5 shoes? I’m desperately fed up off living in trainers and boots. More shops are doing 9, 10 etc but not 8.5. I’m fed up off going in shops and 8 don’t fit and 9 are too big, god knows how many times I come out off shops in tears
March 7th, 2008 at 6:10 pm
thanks, but evans do have black ones wih blue and white stripes that are really cute
March 7th, 2008 at 6:44 pm
Hi All,
Aggie – I agree with cheddar, I’ve bought plenty of shoes from evans and I’ve managed to find fashionable ones (I’m 21 so still wanting fashion!!). Try and persuade her to take another look because at the mo there are plenty of cute pumps for school and for every day.
Also, to Cheddar Cheese – I buy my tights at Primark – I’m 6ft 2 and find that their extra large tights fit just fine, nice and long, really cheap and they do them in lots of funky prints and colours.
March 8th, 2008 at 2:30 pm
i have thighs though…… big ones but evans ones do me fine too…
March 9th, 2008 at 3:48 pm
i like this website because it is moral support for each other cos we are all in the same boat even though we may not want to be.:))))
March 10th, 2008 at 5:05 pm
Thank you Karen & Becky for your comments and advice I will take a look at Evans & La Redoute.

Evans do shoes for all generations. My Nan is in her 70’s and shops there. I’m 30 and have been shopping in Evans for quite a while now. Cheddar Cheese and all you young ones out there. Do not lose hope. I have had big feet for a long time now and trust me girls, I wear super stylish shoes for my size 9 feet. All my small foot friends ask me where I get my shoes from and I proudly tell them. Have you tried http://www.tallgirls.co.uk? The high street is unfortunately not the place for us but I don’t care as I can get fancy shoes on the internet and I don’t really want to wear the same shoes as the standard size girls. When I’m out and about, I always look out for fellow big footed girls and do not hesitate to ask them where they get their shoes from. Keep the faith.
March 14th, 2008 at 11:11 am
i dont want to kepp going to faith becasue their nine fits more like and eight but never mind, what every yhou say will go:):(:)

It’s great that more shoe stores are catering for ladies with large size feet, but all at a very high price. I’m 18 years old and of course want to stay fashionable but cannot afford the prices of the links you have provided. Why cant high street stores sell larger sized fashionable shoes for women and girls at a reasonable price!? I buy all my shoes from Evans as their prices are acceptable and their range of style is also acceptable. And it saves me travelling to London everytime I need a new pair of shoes! Growing up as a young girl with large feet was very hard, I then went through a stage where I really didnt care how big my feet were. Now at 18 I’m more concious and depressed than ever!!! All I want is a nice pair of shoes at a reasonable price. Most styles of shoe are restricted for the larger size! Saddens me that there are so many women out there in the same situation! What do we want? Fashionable, comfortable shoes at reasonable prices within our own home towns! Sorry to ramble, needed to get it off my chest! Going to Evans now!!! chow! xx
March 23rd, 2008 at 7:03 am
hey canoesshoes – try http://www.tallgirls.co.uk and http://www.steptall.com they are both inexpensive and commparable with evans. worth a look!!

March 23rd, 2008 at 10:31 am
Hi Linda
Thanks for the links. Might have to spoil myself this week when I get paid
I had a look at the Elephant Feet website and the shoes they have in there are gorgeous but soo expensive. If I remember correctly, a few years back my dad used to take me to Brixton in London to get my shoes and he bought me a pair from Elephant Feet and they cost over £100 and I still wear them now. Have had to have the heels and points re done a couple of times but they are very good quality for the price!
Charlotte
March 23rd, 2008 at 10:37 am
good idea – though its house of sole now I think – much better than having to wear shoes with elephant feet on them – like we dont know that already!!! It might be worth a trip to Brixton as it has a lot of black residents and they seem to have larger feet on the whole, so there may well be more shops there. If you can stretch yourself or your credit card or even your dads arm then it is worth buying quality – also have a look at http://www.lushshoes.com as they are having a clearance sale – all of which are £24,99 – i have just ordered some black pumps!!
Linda
March 23rd, 2008 at 10:43 am
Yeah it’s House of Sole now. I will definatley try and arrange a trip to Brixton, might take Dad along with me if he don’t mind helping me out financially! Also, Russell & Bromley do larger sizes for women, although very high prices but very good quality. I used to get my school shoes from there as they would last a long time. I even went back and bought a second pair for when the first pair were worn down
It is definatley easy to find shoes to fit but the trouble I have is I want shoes that dont make my feet look bigger than they already are!! I find I wear heels alot rather than flats. Im tall anyway so a few extra inches on my height doesnt bother me.

Ladies, Ladies, Ladies
Having spent 15mins reading through all your coments, how I do empathise with yee, for I too am categorised in the elephant section with a whopping size 10!
Yes, yes, yes, I have experienced all the trials and tribulations of unstylish shoes, expense, not enough styles or ranges etc, etc, etc…
From the tender age of 11, I was squashing my feet into smaller shoes, thankfully there isn’t any evidence of bunions or corns because I rescued them just in time. I think I can safely say I know every shop in the UK that caters for our size and have purchased from all of them, and now let me educate you a little bit and see if this puts your mind somewhat at ease.
* Manufacturers shy away from making shoes in our size because it does
ACTUALLY cost more (this has knock on effect for you in terms of the total
price you end up paying) & are reluctant to stock them in store
because a) they take up more room than the average sizes and b) they
don’t know if they will sell. How many of you have been embarassed on
walking into a ‘normal’ high st shop and asking ‘have you got these
in a size 9 please’ and the shop assistant bellows what you have just
requested in the loudest voice possible; and stares at your feet like you’re
an alien!
* We are a minority consumer as the average size foot for ladies in the UK
is an unbearable 5 – 6!
* Manufacturers got it wrong because they try to make our sizes shoes from
a size 5 – 6 pattern, hence you get uncomfortable shoes (width, heel
base etc)
* Yes, Chiltern Street is our answer to Oxford St mayhem, but I too echo
the sentiments of many who have written before me; Magnus & Crisspins
(specialise in narrow fittings) have styles for an older woman, Totally Large
do some funky styles but run out of shoes quickly, Elephant Feet (no
longer have shop in Brixton) do have some nice shoes but tend to be
behind the others in getting their stock, so ultimately lose out on sales
because you’ve already spent your money in the other ones! In terms of
online, I have bought from all of them including Stravers in Holland,
Designer shoes in the US, Steptall (who I think are having problems as
their range hasn’t changed for near on 8mnths) amber and jade; narrow
specialists etc and can often be selling their wares at Greenwich market.
So, you may ask, where are all her ramblings leading us? Well, I’ve had enough and am just about to launch http://www.tijeanneshoes.co.uk
All our shoes are of bespoke design (not bought off the shelf in millions) and will mirror the more fashionable / trendy end of the market (think Kurt Geiger, shoes you see in Office etc) and will be made to a very high standard. We are grading our shoes from a size 8, which means they will fit properly and we’re doing extensive measuring tests to ensure we get both the size and width correct.
We’ll also be offering a bespoke service for those who may want a shoe slightly wider or narrower that isn’t offered on our website.
If you would like to be informed when Tijeanne shoes will go live around the end of April / early May or simply have some burning questions to ask, please email us at info@tijeanneshoes.co.uk. You will see that we already have a holding page in place so can guarantee we’re serious! We have undertaken a lot of research and feel, this is what women with plus size feet have been waiting for!
March 23rd, 2008 at 5:33 pm
hi, linda you said a lot of black residents in brixton , me being politically correct i think you will find the correct way to say it is’urban’ or ethnic -
it is rather hard to find shoes in big sizes. shops need to do more about it, and conoeshoes try tall long sally, its cheap and cheerful , my mother pointed that out to me !!
March 23rd, 2008 at 6:00 pm
LOL Chedder, Chedder, Chedder, hi, by the way. Im black and the term Linda used was fine as there are a lot of ‘black’ people in Brixton, but anyhow… this is a website for ladies with larget feet.
I recommend Barefoot tess. I got four pair of ballet pumps from them in a size 11 for £109 including delivery. They are based in the States but had 50% of sale items and an order is $45 to post to England. I definately think that those of you with big feet but want to stay fashionable check it out. Also Oliver Ashley sometimes do nice shoes at reasonable prices, tall girls and the tall lady.
Trainers are good as many are unisex so dont feel uncomfortable looking at the mens side… Office do really trendy trainers and some shoes that go up to a 42 -you will have to try on different styles to determine whether this is a true size 9.
Good luck guys
March 23rd, 2008 at 6:20 pm
Hi Cheddar,
I too am black and really do think you will find that the term black is perfectly acceptable not such toss as Urban. I really do detest it when people try to wear the Politically Correct hat and do it so badly. Have you tried any of the websites/shops mentioned? Ladies, I feel a shopping trip to London should be organised.
March 23rd, 2008 at 8:35 pm
i know me too, but i dont that once and i got told off for putting that , sorry if it offended , this was not my aim to do so.
. i like to wear trainers with jeans and so and i find it perfectly fine buying from mens section because i only wear black or white nike ones. but being real young and having big feet , i feel quite different from the rest becasuse when we got out @ the weekend they have nice shoes but all i wear if trainers and pumps because that is what i strech my pocket money to buy although i think jones the bookmake should make a larger shoe selection because when i fitted into them they were rather good quality! monique & Nkechi i am ever so sorry if i offended you but i my self come from a black back ground and i was watching miss joycelynn and well… yeah .
March 23rd, 2008 at 8:52 pm
Urban? Ethnic? you could be describing Chinese people and they definately do not have big feet!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No offense meant to anyone, was just trying to be helpful.
Linda
March 23rd, 2008 at 11:13 pm
Really the point is here that the statement: ‘a lot of black residents and they seem to have larger feet on the whole’ is a generalisation, and like most generalisations is false. As someone else has already said, this thread is about shoe shopping for ladies with large feet. Race or so-called ethnic tendencies should not come into this. I have subscribed to this thread for a very long time, and hope we can keep it being what it is and does best – providing a great source of essential shoe shopping information. I too am black by the way…

Hi
has anyone tried http://www.findthatshoe.com ?
If styles that make your feet look smaller are what you are looking for, then
this is a place to try.
There are many fashionable styles in larger sizes…9’s, 10’s & 11’s and they are reasonably priced.
It definitely offers an alternative to high street shopping…
March 25th, 2008 at 3:55 pm
cheddar, its ok, ethnicity is something people are afraid to talk about. i want some nice sandals and flip flops but i cant seem to get them for a reasonable price. can anyone help me?

Im selling a couple of shoes on ebay. They have been worn a few times but are in excellent condition. Take a look and if you have any questions just ask. Go to ebay.co.uk and then click on ‘community’ on the top right hand side of the page. Then type in my user id in the box ‘nkechi1979′

hello , peta i have seen some nice sandals online but i wonder do you have flip flops that are made with the rubber sole? you know the ines like haviana ? because i cant seem to find them in my size
March 31st, 2008 at 7:56 am
Hi missylola
I am sorry, the leather flip flops on my site are the only ones at the moment but I am seeing a supplier this week for some more. They will not be like the Havianas tho
March 31st, 2008 at 8:59 am
Hi Missy Lola
Try on e-bay from this seller – HAVAIANAS HARDCOSTA
I bought some Havaianas in Brazil last year they were marked: USA 9 / EUR 43/4 & (Brazilian size) 41-2. I have average to slim size 43-44 feet and they are JUST big enough. HOWEVER you should go for the “slim” style Havaianas unless you have very wide feet or very high arches as the others really are for quite wide, big feet mens feet. I have a pair of Havaianas in the “surf” style and they are just a bit too baggy .
The “nude” style also looks like it’s the slim type. Check with the ebay seller if they make slims in EUR 45/6 as I seem to remember they did. They might be able to buy some for you next time they go to Brazil for more flip-flops, you never know. Good luck!
March 31st, 2008 at 2:13 pm
thank you all, i will look on petas website in near future but i am now off to fine the seller on ebay ?
thank you so much
March 31st, 2008 at 2:21 pm
ok i have looked but… i was wondering if anyone knew a store, a shop i could go in and find some. when i was in america i could go into any store, my favourite for flip flops and shoes was onld navy , a clothing store, like primark and gap, gap quality and primarks price. all their shoes went to 11-12 which is a 9-10 so i always wore flip flops in america cos it was comfy and hot in LA so.
April 3rd, 2008 at 12:14 pm
Hi all,
Its good to know that I’m not the only one suffering!
I recently bought a pair of Pedro Garca ballerinas from http://www.large-size-designer-shoes.com The shoes there are pricy but beautiful and I always reckon you get what you pay for. Delivery was really fast and the shoes were beautifully packed, almost like a present. I’ve looked at loads of the sites on tallwomen but have not found really what I’ve been looking for. Anybody got any tips on wedding shoes? I’m getting married in July and can’t find anything in an 8 that suits…
Great blog, thanks so much for the tips
April 5th, 2008 at 9:22 am
Hi Tori I may be able to help you. You say you have tried the UK sites for shoes but have you looked at http://www.thetallady.co.uk There is a great selection of designer shoes for all occasions. I have bought a lot of stock from US designers. Usually next day delivery during the week even if you choose the standard class. I ahve some beatiful shoes coming from Spain and some new Unze’s too so give us a try
April 5th, 2008 at 10:09 am
Hi Tori
I got married 18 months ago and my biggest issue was where am I going to find my wedding shoes. You will find a lot of wedding shops do have a limited selection of shoes up to a size 9 (thats what size I am) although mine were a size 9 in a 42 they were actually a real size 9. My shoes were made by a company called rainbow club. If that helps at all. I don’t think you’ll be as limited in a size 8. Good luck with the hunt and have a fantastic wedding.

What you mean in addition to the tall & small range they already do? http://www.barratts.co.uk/cl/21000/Womens_Tall_and_Small.html
They normally have some ok shoes although the range is a bit limited at the mo, hoping they’re going to start new summer sandals soon.

hi, they should make all shoes in barrats going up to a ten, i want to wear shoes al my friends are wearing but i cant because they dont have them in a 9 or 10 so i get really annoyed, i just wear black pumps. thats all i can wear from there without weareing shoes i dont like that make my feel look like boats :S but its nice we all support, with help of everyone emailing they may soon realise that its not just people with ‘average’ size feet. average so does not exist. who is with me? who is with us?
people of the boat feet unite lets protest!
peace out!

Hi, sorry I wasn’t specific.
I’ve heard barratts are thinking of doing a brand new range of womens shoes in big sizes (yes, separate from tall and small), with many more different designs and better fitting (my sister’s friend konws someone who works there).
They just needed to check that the demand is still out there!
I’ve sent my email to http://www.barratts.co.uk/o/contact/Contact_Us.html asking them for more big shoes and more variety of designs – I thought if you ladies could email them also asking for more shoes then we’d have more of an impact.

Oh right, I understand now lol!
I’ve just sent an email to Barratts pleading with them for more shoes. Lets hope this happens.
I was talking to the manager of the barratts I go to a couple of months ago though and he was saying he thought it would only be a matter of time before they started doing all styles in size 10s, like they now do size 9s.
Fingers crossed
Becky

Have just emailed barratts as well.
Keeping my fingers – and big toes – crossed that they’ll listen to us.
Great idea Becky, I’ll speak to the manager of my barratts shop when I go later this week as well, it can only help if we do it on mass!

Hi Ladies

April 23rd, 2008 at 11:35 am
I can’t believe it took me so long to find this site! I am a 9/43 as well, and have all the same issues. I went to Chiltern St a while ago and am totally going to go back tomorrow lunchtime and check them out again!
I haven’t read all the replies but in case no-one else has mentioned them, http://www.jonesbootmaker.com do up to a 42 and fit me in some styles (round toe boots especially), and I got my wedding shoes at LK Bennett http://www.lkbennett.com which also go up to 42 and fit in some styles – the Roberto style at the moment is just beautiful!
April 26th, 2008 at 6:11 am
hi there! I am located in Australia soon to relocate to Northern Africa and am doing some shoe searching in between the packing.
I am trying to find the name of a Chiltern St shoe store. It is the Baker St tube end of the street and next door, or very close to, the hand-made shoe shop. The same side as Long Tall Sally – if these stores are all still there. The shop I am thnking of stocks shoes made in Spain and Portugal…or they did 18 months ago.
thanks

Fiona – you are probably thinking of Totally Shoes, which is definitely still there, a few doors up from LTS, towards Baker Street.
It’s also worth looking at Long Tall Sally’s site as they do shoes up to a 45 now.
I’m currently living and working in France and looking forward to going back home via a trip to Sagone and Palais de la Chaussure in Paris!

! was referred to Barefoot Tess by this months Instyle Magazine on large sizes. I am in love. Check out the following, which I just ordered and can swear by– (I’m a UK 11/ US 13) Lovely People braided strappy flat sandals (don’t know the name), and JP and Matte sandals ( again can’t remember the name but they are the cheaper ones from this designer and SOOOO cute). And… I went to the site above ( tall lady something) and found some of the same shoes I saw on http://www.barefoottess.com for much more money. My international shipping was a total of 45 us dollars which was nothing, and i didnt pay customs so it was much less than buying anything here. Anyway, I don’t know if I could have found these here so it is sort of not an issue. Okay.. just a tip to you all out there. I’m in love with this site. Before this I bought my shoes at Nordstroms, and had a friend ship to me here. But this site is totally devoted to the shoes and has the best selection I have ever seen by far. They are brilliant.

Just moved back from London, Chiltern Street is the best I’ve found while there apart from Evans/Barretts as previously mentioned – But the absolute best place I’ve found is called Marni on Madison Avenue in NY. I’m UK size 10 (US 12) and picked up three gorge pairs of stilettos for $300 – Nine West also stock up to size 12 (US), where you can pick up some fab ones for half that price.

Ive just listed some large sized ladies shoes on ebay including a brand new pair of Dolce Vita Pewter Snakeskin Wedges in UK size 11 for £45. These shoes are currently being sold on The Tall Lady website for £75!
So if you are interested in checking out these and other shoes go to
www. ebay.co.uk, click on ‘community’ in the top right hand corner, and then in the user id box type in ‘nkechi1979′

Thank you Nkecki!! You make it really easy for anyone in business to try and help others. Yes my shoes are more expensive than yours because I imported 100 pairs, paid duty and shipping and I run a business.!!!! I believe you emailed me asking me to exchange these shoes as they wer bought by your Aunt and they were too big for you, I sent an email agreeing to do so. I can not do any more than that!!!. You never came back to me!!!! So please do not maligne me for asking for a fair price for my shoes that I have spent time and money sourcing. If you wish to purchase shoes from the States and they do not fit, then send them back to to the US.My business is founded from passion and an effort to help others in the same boat as myself with larger than average feet. I have invested a lot of time, effort and personal money in this business. Sell your shoes on Ebay with my love!!! and good luck.

I bought a pair of shoes from The Tall Lady some months ago and they are beautiful. When funds permit, I shall be returning to make further purchases. I have to say that buying direct from the US online can be a difficult and expensive undertaking. I did it a few years ago and had to spend a fair bit extra on shipping and when I returned one pair which didn’t fit it was even more expensive. I commend all those who set up these shoe shops – as it gives us ladies with larger feet more choice, and a range of prices to suit most budgets.

Hi Peta,
Sorry if I offended you. It was not my intentions at all. I completely understand the efforts that you go through to purchase larger sized shoes. I only mentioned you because I wanted to give someone the opportunity to purchase these shoes at a lower price. You and I both know that shoes in laer sizes can be so expensive!
I didnt actually receive your email otherwise I would have taken up the offer as I really like those shoes. So if you are still willing to help me out I will take he listing off for the Dolce Vita’s and swap them with you.
My apologies again.

HI – I have a pair of corso cosmo shoes in a UK 10 for sale on ebay. I bought them from barefoot tess last week but they are slightly too narrow for me, They are really beautiful, soft leather blackk wedges. Brand new in orginal box. They cost me over £125 in total so a real bargain. If you go to ebay and type in corso cosmo in the search box they will come up.

June 17th, 2008 at 1:24 am
i think the dolce vita in question in the above dispute are on the barefoottess website. check it out… they are half of the cost that you mention that you found them for on tall lady- knechi. as for the corso como.. id be happy to check them out on ebay… i love that brand. are your feet really wide linda.. because i have bought a few of them and find them to be very true to size! my feet are average but long so i want to see why you think they were too narrow. maybe its just an exception for that pair.. but it would help to know if you tell us your width. finally… someone mentioned marni and nine west in the US. I dont know about marni but nine west has very poor quality shoes. yes they might be large, but they are super cheap.. and not often leather. i guess if money is the only criteria you can check them out, but they are nasty. at least thats my experience. thanks so much girls for all the tips in the UK and Dublin
June 18th, 2008 at 12:14 pm
HI Katie
The corso cosmo’s do fit but they are tight on me and I just cant do that “they will stretch” thing anymore. I would say I am a C fitting or W in US terms and these are a M (Medium). They are really lovely shoes, very soft leather and expensive looking – which of course they are.

I am a UK 9 Wide. If I want any shoes I go direct to Clarks these days. Only select branches do larger sizes for some reason. My local Newcastle-under-Lyme branch has quite a few. They can also tell you what styles are available for them to order in a larger size. Probably any branch can tell you what styles are available to order. I have also bought 9s at the London, Oxford Street, branch. I sympathise with you all – I have literally sobbed with frustration looking for shoes. Oh well, like my dad keeps telling me, we have big feet in common with most Supermodels! Jerry Hall says “at least I don’t fall over”!

they have some nice ones at the moment aswell

Hi All
I have just put a pair of pink Puma ballerina pump/trainers on Ebay.
The item number is: #220258912088
The description is: PUMA Pink Impulse Ballerina WORN ONCE! Ladies 43/ UK 9.
As I say in the listing, I only wore them once but I really am a size 44 and they are a 43 so they dont fit. Have put a ‘buy now’ price of £15. Or you can bid for them. Lovely shoes for all you size 43 / UK 9 ladies out there!
July 18th, 2008 at 10:42 pm
Hi ladies, Yes you are a UK 10 Karen!!
The nightmare continues re sizing. I keep on saying regardless: 42 is size 8!!
43 is size 9!!! 44 is size 10!!!!! and 45 is size 11!!!
US sizes are 10-8 11-9 12-10 13-11 The sizes from the States are always to be checked because all designers differ slightly and there are no standards in the industry but this a ball park model
The best remedy is to call any of the larger size ladies shoe suppliers and check on the measurements. Most large shoe size sites will offer this facility, I do, so use it and know your foot size so the shoe fits before you order it!! I will send out up to three pairs of shoes for you to try for size for the same postage cost as 1 pair with a refund on your return postage if they do not fit. I am very passionate about this problem because returns are very disappointing for the customer and cost money to both retailer and customer

What a fantastic site!
Do you youngsters really how fortunate you are that you are able to buy
shoes in your size? I am 82 years old and wear a size 9. I use to be a size
8, but find, with age, my feet have gone up a size and I don’t have bunions as an excuse:-)
Anyway, think what it was like in the 1930’s when I was just a girl! I was
12 years old, when my mother took me to Lilley and Skinners to buy shoes for
school – they measured my feet and we were told I needed a size 8. My mother literally had hysterics (and I DON’T mean she was laughing) – I felt like a freak. We had to buy boys shoes. I was probably one of the very few girls who could wear her bigger brother’s cast offs. However, I did find another girl at school who wore a size 8 and I realised that there were other girls in a similar position, but we were few and far between.
I was lucky though, I got married in white (during the war years)
and needed pretty white shoes. My very clever mother found a wonderful pair in Lilley and Skinners Oxford Street’s branch, in a size 8. It appears that they managed to get a few pairs, from the USA, especially for war brides with big feet.
That made up for their lack of tact when they first, rather clumsily,
informed me I was a size 8 when just 12 years old.
(Ooh, if I was younger – I’d have a pair of those fantastic 5″ heeled
boot shoes!)

August 7th, 2008 at 8:40 pm
Go Rosie – although younger than you, I too had to endure Lillie and skinner when I was young – I remember the shoes were plastic and used to make my feet really really sore – but because I was so embarassed by my feet I would never take them off in company!!!!!!!!!!! How stupid is that. Now that I am knocking on 50, I buy a new pair nearly every month and always buy expensive ones – I am making up for lost time, the internet changed my feet for ever.
August 9th, 2008 at 11:38 am
Hi Linda and Rosie
A girl after my own heart I had to wear boys shoes for school. Lilly and Skinner were not there for me then. We lived in Wales and my mother and I would trail around to get my shoes for the new term. I think we used more shoe leather searching!!! The shop assistant would ask what size I was to which my Mum would reply SIZE 8!!!!. They would then retreat behind the counter and have a good old titter. It is because of things like this and the years of struggling that I started The Tall Lady. I now have more shoes than Emelda and the pick of the stock so how good is that. I have some great red suede boot shoes from Spain, not 5inches high Rosie but my fabulous trendy Mum (a tender 88 yrs) proudly struts her stuff in a pair and loves them to bits. check them out on http://www.thetalllady.co.uk

Good Morning Leigh
I would be delighted to send you shoes to South Africa,
I will check up on the costs in the morming (Monday). A 44 is the right size for you but some of the US sizings can differ. We with size 1o should be a US 12 but I have some shoes in US11 and have also had to buy US 13 to fit me.
The best thing is for us to measure your foot length and width. then decide which styles you like and we can make sure we get the right size for you before we ship.
please feel free to email me through the site and I can deal with you directly with any queries
I look forward to hearing from you
With kind regards

people take advantage of the larger footsizes! not fair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

a.l.fleet pls do not think about having an operation on your feet to make them smaller! it’s ludacris! You will only encounter painful problems after in the future, to the extent you wont be able to walk at all because it hurts so much!! Love the body you’ve got and learn to accept it, people will love you for who you are and NOT what your trying to be. it’s a painful process to actually accept the fact your not small and never will be, but look at all those gorgeous supermodels and not one of them are under 5′9!! which means they possibly all have big feet as well. im 18 5′9 with size 9 feet and am very happy. xx

Hello All,
As it has been a while since I have posted a comment. I thought I would share with you my grief together with my solutions for this grief. Winter is approaching so where will I buy my black boots in size 11 E, not boots that might fit, shoulda, woulda, coulda fit but my size and my fit. where will I find these. I have trodden the rode of USA to the lonley back water of Baltimore to seek out the very beautiful barefoot tess, but to no avail. All very well for the slimmer footed lady. I have prized the single Van eli loafer that I bought at Claro shoes in New York and I have been thankful for the new websites appearing and my bigfoot sisters are almost spoilt for choice.
There are numerous outlets for plus size shoes but if you have big feet that are also wide then it is another problem entirely.
My Lament
No one can claim that I have not tried, no one can say that I have not cried in my quest to cure my blues to seek the elusive Bigfoot shoes.
Solution can somebody recommend a shoemaker in london that can make me some shoes for around £300 or are you in a position to make me some.
My Thoughts & Dreams
I wonder how many women visit this site. If every person paid x amount would x amount be enough to open a factory in UK. Like a co-operative would the Dragons put up the balance or Rchard Branson.
Aggie still waiting for 11 E Boots from Santa

Have you tried http://www.magnusshoes.com? They have a few shops and do mail order. The boots go up to size 12, but they only do the C width. However, I can’t wear their shoes, because, though I need a C fitting, I find them much too wide!!
Just a suggestion. Good Luck

Hello!
I’ve been getting updates from this blog for ages now and thought I’d share a discovery… Although not all of their styles are particularly fashionable, Ecco do really comfy shoes (you can find some pretty nice pairs) in what they say is a 42 but, as I’m a size 10, I was shocked to find they fit me! Especially good if you have narrower feet..
Not exactly cheap though, unless you live in Cheshire. They have a discount shop in Cheshire Oaks.
Happy shoe hunting!

hi i live in the bahamas an its very hard for me to find nice size 13 shoes am in desprite need of help
September 23rd, 2008 at 4:26 pm
Ah man im only 13 years old and i’ve got size 10 and a half feet. it totally sucks, especially when i need school shoes. the only ones i can find in my size are granny shoes; so we end up getting shoes that dont last long and i get through about 5 pairs in a school year! all my friends have really nice shoes that i can never get in my size. i’ve got mens trainers and keds LOL. i’ve got lots of shoes from barrats; they have a section in the shops that have shoes hanging up. there are normally some 10s hanging around, but if there arent ask someone! they arent too expensive, but they arent very strong but they are nice
LOL. also if u go onto the barratts website they have a tall section and the shoes go up to size 10. i also get lots of shoes from tallgirls.com although they’ve had the same shoes for about 4 years. and i get some from longtallsally.com but they dont have a wide variety and they are a bit more expensive.
i hope ive made life a tad easier for some tall girls out there
LOL check out the websites and get some shoesss
xx

hi louise im 13 and i too have a size 10 feet
all the shoes in barratts are similar or the newish ones are quite ugly
i find it extremely hard to buy shoes and i go thrught about 5 pairs of barratts shows per school year. its really hard , my brother teases me and wears my shoes
i hate my feet but at least i have a pair
Aggie:-
http://www.tallgirls.co.uk/womens-large-shoes/tallgirls-boots-in-large-sizes.html their booots go up to a 12
if they arent wide enough i suggest getting a 12 and using insoles

I use to shop at Magnus until my feet grew wider about 2 years ago and Svelte shoes only go up to a 10 which is a shame because they have a nice selection of shoes. I had been dithering over buying a pair of boots from tallgirls but was doubtful about the fit. I have ordered them today. So my thanks to you all and to the poster who made this suggestion.
Thelescia my heart goes out to you. Barefoot Tess shoes go up to a US.15
which is a UK 13. The bulk of their shoes are generally better suited to those with a slimmer foot B/C but they do have some wider fit shoes too. They do post internationally and they are certainly worth a try.
May I suggest that each and everyone of us when buying shoes on the internet that we make these suppliers aware of Janine’s website where possible. If not verbally post them a link with a comment. This will give suppliers a good indicator of what sizes are in demand.

LOL xx

all these websites are all well and good but 99% of them have the ugliest shoes ever. I am 24 and dont want to wear granny shoes, surprise surprise!! I was a size 7 at age 14 and am now a size 9 wide fit (true size 9 – as in evans – not what most shops say is a size 9, or a high street size 10 then) i guess there is nothing you can do about it when both your parents are 6ft and a shoe size 8 and 10.
i dont want to pay £100 for one pair of shoes, that arent even that nice, i want beautiful shoes and tonnes of them! i want to be able to go to New Look or Primark and buy 5 pairs of shoes all for under 50 quid! and then i want to go to Office and spend £50 on one pair of beautiful shoes! I want to be able to read fashion mags and go, ‘oh they’re nice, ill go and buy them’ its not fair!!!!!! Paris Hilton (the twat) has huge feet, as do loads of other celebrities, not to mention all the 6ft tall models. Why do manufacturers not realise they will make a fortune?!
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:02 pm
Well after my rant, today i went to New Look on the off chance (as they have a new wide range, but its usually very limited and they dont have above an
but lo and behold, i found a wide 9! (the only pair i the entire shop by the looks of things, but it was in the best style) and i can just about get my feet in them, they are so beautiful, deep deep purple with a 4 inch heel at the back and half an inch at front. I can bearly walk in them but who cares!! lol!
nevertheless, apart from this fluke, i still find ebay to be the best bet, as you can browse all the past seasons of evans shoes and boots (brand is essence). i bought a pair of boots about 5 years ago from the store that i loved so much i am now on my 6th pair (thanx to ebay) in 3 different colours! i live in them!

To all those people who are screaming out in anger because shops like Primark don’t manufacture shoes for us, be pleased that at least by not buying from them, you’re not funding child and sweatshop labour. Ok, it’s a pain in the backside, trying to find shoes, but isn’t it better to have a few pairs of good quality shoes that you love (they’re hard to find but they DO exist)that cost a bit more than 100 pairs of cheap ones (made by under-paid poor people) that fall apart very quickly and you have to throw away..?
Having had to deal with the size of my feet for years, I’ve decided to look on the positive side. People have actually started commenting on how they like my shoes, which is a definite improvement.
October 7th, 2008 at 8:17 pm
In response to Lucy’s comment I would just like to say that it would be lovely to be able to spend a lot of money on a pair of shoes which would last forever and also enable me to do my do gooder bit for the day and not have put money into the pockets of sweatshops.
However, as a Uni student the money that I have goes on books etc, getting to and from uni & trying not to get myself into vast amounts of debt.
As such I would be overjoyed if Primark were to start selling size 10 shoes. Granted they may not be the most ethical company, but unfortunately I am not in a position to get into the morality of a pair of shoes – I just want something fashionable that fits and that I can afford.
Also, I have to say the vast majority of sites that I look on which sell the more expensive shoes are generally not the type of shoes that I wear as I find them to often be quite old fashioned.
October 7th, 2008 at 9:21 pm
Exactly! Thank you Becky! NO to granny shoes!!!!
October 7th, 2008 at 11:02 pm
Hey guys, just thought I would check in. I am a fellow tall person. I am 34, 6 ft tall and used to take a UK 9, but since putting on weight and having babies I am now a 10.
I gotta say, its really refreshing to have all this choice. Ten years ago, there were just a sprinkle of UK shops selling 9s, one of which was 9to11, which I believe is now called tallgirls.co.uk. The others were mostly catering to the more mature lady .. there was nothing for us tall, sexy, trendy amazon goddesses!!
Now.. well there are loads and loads .. what a selection!!
Anyway, soz for rambling on lol. Looks like all the good sites have already been mentioned.
Unfortunately it looks like the http://www.steptall.com website is no longer operative. Whether that’s just a technical hitch, or an indication that they are no longer trading I am not sure. Its a shame because I bought a beautiful paid of shoes from there, and was hoping to spend a bit more money with them. Ah well.

Hi Rowan
I have been watching the comments going back and forth for a while and todays comment from Rowan was just too much. I would be interested to hear from you with you your comments on my stock. I think my shoes are well OK. I have a great website with loads of styles for all ages and budgets. So I ask you ” where have you been looking? I also have access to many more styles but have to buy in quite a large quantity, for a small, very new business, this is not possible to stock everything. I agree with you totally about the lack in the High St shops, but that goes for all things shoes, clothes etc and we always have to pay more for the less than average sizes. There are a few of us who have stuck our necks out and put our money where the mouth is, to try and help those with the same problems as ourselves as we have had years and years of trying to find large size, fashionable footwear but most of the comments are like yours bemoaning the fact that you can’t find them, and then they are too expensive. I ask you “what planet are you on?? The choice is amazing if only you care to look.
DV: I think you may be right about Steptall, I tried her yesterday, this is very sad but possible a sign of the times and also perhaps because we with the small business just can’t survive. Hopefully Stephanie will see this and respond
have you looked at http://www.thetalllady.co.uk I certainly have some shoes to suit you

oh my god, that just proves what i was saying, i am 24 not 44, i dont want these old fashioned shoes. yes i have looked. i am a student and i cant and dont want to spend £100 on shoes i cant stand! is that so hard to underdstand?
try having a look in high street shops an you might see what ‘fashionable’ actually means.
October 9th, 2008 at 4:15 pm
Well I have been reading all these comments. I am a (size 6- shoes that is!) mum of a size 9 teen. I have some sympathy with what both sides are saying. I think many of the styles on some of the sites are fashionable and look lovely quality HOWEVER I won’t be wearing them. Ask my 15 year old to look at them and she sees very few that appeal. Thus I would as a mum pay the money for her to have ‘nice’shoes but she doesn’t think they are so great and so I am not prepared to pay a premium for shoes that won’t come out of the wardrobe. Better to go very cheap and just keep having to replace them. Am just about to dread finding shoes for the prom next summer- especially as they have to be flat too!!
October 10th, 2008 at 8:35 am
rowan -I think thats its you that is wrong – check out the fab shoes at http://www.lushshoes.com -the 4″ boot/shoe called Kalinda is right on trend, yes they are expensive but you get what you pay for. There are just so many sites to buy from now – if you look at http://www.tallwomen.org you will see for yourself that there is something for everyone including you!!!!!! There is also now a new shop that is opening soon called http://www.katielongshoes.co.uk- . By far my fav is http://www.large-size-designer-shoes.com- very very expensive but fab. You will just have to either get a job or if you already have one do some overtime!!!!!!!!!
October 10th, 2008 at 10:03 am
forgot to mention that without people like peta putting their own money time and effort into what is a specialist market and therefore limited custom we would not have the choices we have today. It may not be to everyones taste but rather than put peoples efforts down you could just have said thank you but they are not what I am after. You are after all 24 not 14
October 10th, 2008 at 11:02 am
Thank you Linda. I wondered what the respose would be to that rather immature post. I was going to suggest that Rowan started her own business. It is not too difficult. Find money, find, buy and stock the right styles for all, source premises to store said goods, wait for the cutomers to flock to your website and your off, walk in the park really!!!
October 10th, 2008 at 4:53 pm
Calm down ladies!
I plugged my blog on here a while ago – http://sizeninefeet.blogspot.com – I’ve spent time researching large size shoe shops all round the world and am always looking for new sites to add – please do email me with suggestions for new sites. I’m a rather narrow size 9.5 (contrary to my blog title) but find it almost impossible to buy half sizes in the UK – the US is better but the danger is that without trying stuff on you just end up with yet more shoes to sell on ebay. Please let me know if you would like me to put a reciprocal link to your blog.
Barratts’ range is OK but flimsy and rarely made of leather – personally I’d prefer to spend a bit more cash on quality shoes that will last. Long Tall Sally has some good stuff but the 9 is too small and the 10 is too big for me, even with insoles. Fashion comes and goes – I would rather buy a beautiful pair of well-made boots or shoes that I loved and would wear as often as possible rather than just because they were in fashion. But maybe that’s just me (aged 31 and therefore probably over the hill in young ‘uns terms)
PS – I was so desperate to be able to buy shoes in styles I liked that I considered giving up my job to train as a shoemaker at Cordwainers College. Were I to win the lottery I’d be tempted to do it!
October 10th, 2008 at 5:09 pm
Hi Emma I certainly have some shoes and boots for you. give me a call http://www.thetalllady.co.uk. I think the the Corso Como boots would fit you so give them a try
October 10th, 2008 at 6:19 pm
Hi Emma
I follow the blog with interest, as I have a website which supplies ladies Italian shoes in sizes 7 to 11, including 1/2 sizes. Take a look at it: http://www.passionateaboutshoes.com I’m sure some of the shoes would take your fancy, they are made of beautiful Italian leather and are good quality – classic and stylish. Let me know what you think.
Best wishes

It is both good and bad to still hear from so many ladies facing the same predicament as myself. I know I have said this before, but I definitely am planning a site dedicated to our plight, which will be a proper presence instead of my old old blog post and will let everyone easily find the shops out there that stock large sizes and chat with others on a friendly message board. Hang on in there, and it will be up very shortly. I’ve decided to start off basic and small to get *something* up at long last, and then we can build on it. Our voices will be heard ladies! Here’s to beautiful shoes for us all!! I’ll let everyone subscribed to this post know when the site’s up and for anyone who sees this but is not subscribed to post updates by e-mail, just e-mail your address to janinedalton@gmail.com and I’ll add you. Thanks for your support, Janine.

ROWAN
Can you post a link of the sort of shoes you want to wear? Go to Faith’s website and copy and paste some links here of regular sized shoes that you would like to see in larger sizes? It would help me identify the kinds of shoes you would like to see.
I really think shops like http://www.houseofsole.co.uk, totallylarge.co.uk, http://www.lushshoes.com sell gorgeous shoes. I admit they are a bit pricey, but I usually wait for sales and get what I want then. If you don’t want to wait for a sale you may still pay a little more than what your smaller-footed friends pay, but hey, at least you can actually get stylish shoes these days which don’t cost the earth. You can bag a bargain for about £40 – 50 in sales these days. Or less depending on the shoe.
Cos honestly sweetie .. if you think things are pretty bad now, you would have had a nervous breakdown about 10 years ago lol. There was only like Crispins, Tall and Small in Saxone (now its in Barratts) and 9to11 (now called tallgirls.co.uk). Many of the other shops were not online back then (or if they were, I didn’t know about them), so if you didn’t live in close proximity to the shop, you were stumped.
October 10th, 2008 at 10:29 pm
I nearly did, ten years ago i used to have to wear hidious mens shoes to school. a school which i hated as it was, purely due to how hidious children can be, was made even more miserable because of my stupid feet.
this is the beautiful kind of shoe i mean…..

I dont care what all these people that own their own sites say, (they wld say they have nice shoes) there is nothing remotely sexy on any of these sites. I have even showed my friends what I mean and they agree. here is an example of the kind of thing that is just viiiiile……
http://www.thetalllady.co.uk/gbu0-prodshow/emotion-darcy-boot.html

(you wouldnt catch Carrie Bradshaw being seen dead in anything like this!)
http://www.thetalllady.co.uk/gbu0-prodshow/dolce-vita-snakeskin-g.html
(my gran actually has some like this, admittadly she is a glam-ish gran, but shes still 70)
Obviously the taste of a 40 yr old is considerably different from that of a 20 yr old, but i am not one of those people that just buys something because it is in fashion and actually find it hard to throw things out even after i have worn them to death. Thank you for asking but I wont hold my breathe
i have managed to buy these in new look last week and they are stunning…and so far have worked wonders with the men (which i cant quite see the above having the same effect somehow!) http://www.newlook.co.uk/1529597/152959759/ProductDetails.aspx
October 10th, 2008 at 11:16 pm
Rowan I think i can see what you mean. You are 24 and you are clearly looking for ultra trendy shoes (e.g. those patent wedges you posted). The shoes in the specialist shops do not really cater for that – maybe they cater for women in their late 20s and upwards.
I have not seen ultra-trendy shoes in the specialist shops. I don’t think you will find that anywhere. What you WILL find is fashionable, chic and stylish shoes.
October 11th, 2008 at 10:28 am
Rowan
WHat do you think of these shoes? Surely these are trendy enough for a trendy twenty-something? Admittedly a bit pricey but you could try the sales.

Rowan, I can also appreciate what you are saying, as I said previously, I have a company who will supply me with the shoes you want and if you email me I will send you the photos of some of the styles I can get. It does however come back to money and minimum orders. All the shoes in the photos can be made either in leather or man made materials. They have to be ordered and then made for me. Let me know what you think of them and I will see what can be done. I too had to wear boys shoes to school and am more than aware of how it is. I still shudder about memories of my schooldays now. As Dolcevita says a nervous breakdown was certainly on the cards so I do know how you feel

Heh, I too can sympathise with the ugly school shoes thang – I used to wear men’s Doc Martens, which never fitted properly because my feet are narrow and my parents used to take the mick and say I looked like a policewoman – thanks mum and dad. Same thing at uni too – ended up wearing either trainers or slim men’s shoes and was so jealous of friends with small feet who could wear pretty heels and all the latest styles. Things will get better, simply because we as a nation are getting taller/bigger, but it will take time and yes it is utterly depressing at times, especially when you know what you would like to wear but can’t find it in any of the shops.
It is a nightmare, but I do give thanks at times that I can’t fit in normal-sized shoes as I would actually be bankrupt (I already have at least 40 pairs). I am however planning to save up for a trip to the States to take advantage of the exchange rate and go to Barefoot Tess, John Fluevog and, of course, Nordstrom, shoe mecca.
The kind of thing that I am looking for is cute flats. I don’t wear heels to work but am sick of wearing trainers. I would like a pair of on-trend, well-made ballerina-type shoes (but maybe with a pointed toe) that have a decent sole on them. The Barratts ones I have are so flimsy that I can feel stones through the sole and I dread to think what I’m doing to my feet.
I should be blogging about this really, eh.
October 12th, 2008 at 11:05 pm
Wow girls! We sure are passionate about our shoes!!! lol!
But should we be any different?
It’s this passion that drives us to seek out particular styles and follow certain trend it’s this same passion for some of us to start businesses…
Fashion has always, is always, will always be subjective… that’s the way it is. We as individual small shoe businesses can please some people some of the time but never all of the people…
Large sized shoes for women is an ‘elephant in the room’ (no, I’m not referring to its feet!) – it’s an obvious issue women/girls/ladies ARE getting taller and their feet are getting bigger. It’s a fact.
The big players don’t really want to acknowledge it. but some of us who have been long suffering wearers of inappropriate shoes have indeed put our money where our “mouth is†and tried to do something about it.
I too have tried to locate Steptall online but they seem to have disappeared. Quite possibly a sign of the times!
All the small businesses soldiering on in this rather specialist and difficult market at this difficult time should be commended!

Actually Stephanie I was going to email your company to check the sizing on your shoes – I am confused because you have size 10 as 43 and most other shops treat a 9 as a 43. You have a beautiful pair of brown brogue boots that I am dying to get my hands on but I don’t know whether to order them in a 10 or a 9 (I am a size 9-9.5 normally but I don’t want to order a 9 if it is in fact a standard 42, which in my experience is usually an 8, and therefore too small for me).
Hope that makes sense, and keep up the good work, your site is great
Emma
October 15th, 2008 at 2:12 pm
Hello Emma,
I’m glad we have something that you like.
As you’ve already experienced there is no agreed standard with regard to the sizing of shoes. Different manufacturers have their own ‘standard’.
The http://www.FindThatShoe.com website has a “what’s my size?†section which helps customers identify which size of shoe/boot from our range would be suitable. You can indeed email us your foot measurements and we can provide a more personal guide.
I hope that helps.
Thanks for your positive comments.

I shall also add Katie Long Shoes to my blog – some very nice styles on there.
October 16th, 2008 at 8:53 pm
Hi
Great reading and thank you to Linda for mentioning my site, which has just gone live.
I totally understand some of the fashion and pricing comments. As a new business sourcing shoes solely for long feet, I have found it really hard and very frustrating – and believe me I went to all the big shows in Europe and walked a very long way. Hopefully over time as volume builds I can start to buy bigger quantities of lots of modern styles and have lots more for the fashion & price conscientious. However, for now being in a specialist market I felt I had to try and offer a range and hopefully there is something for everyone.
Thank You

Hi Rowan –
was just reading through these posts, and as a fellow 24 year old with large feet I have to tell you to check out Barefoot Tess!! (www.BarefootTess.com) They have the absolutely most AMAZING, yOUNG, HIP selection of shoes and plenty of wides! Also, many of their shoes are inexpensive. they changed my shoe life.
October 18th, 2008 at 6:15 pm
Hello ladies, Im so happy to have found this web site. I’m an American living in London and I wear a 9-9.5, have been since the age if ten. Buying shoes at home has never been a problem, but since I moved here it’s been hell. For some strange reason the shoe makers in this country think all womens feet stop at size 8…I don’t get it. I try to go home home once a year and bring back at least 8-10 pairs of shoes but have not had the chance to go home for the past 2 years.
So I’ve been walking around in my mens trainers searching in vain for shoes that fit. Came across this website and i’m in heaven!!!!
Thank you

someone pleeeease help :’(
i reeeaally want some babychams coz they are sooo cool, but they only do them up to a size 8 and rarely a size 9, im a size ten and i cnt obv find any, i’ve kinda figured that babycham is only for women, right? and does anyone know if there are any trainers like babychams about that will go up to my size? (:
looloo x
October 19th, 2008 at 10:22 pm
oooh yeh i forgot to saaaay, that i went on a website, dr shoes, and i found some trainers (for just one pound!!) that are the same style as babychams, but without the patterns, they had thick laces and i liked them, i clicked on them, and they were for both men and women, but it says ‘one size’ and i dnt get what that means, ahahaa, is it me or is it weird?! help, pleae?!
October 20th, 2008 at 11:49 am
Hi
Like Katie, I too appreciate the positive comments received, it is very hard trying to find the larger sizes at the right prices because the manufacturers still do not believe that we need to go above a size 8!!
I have to pre order all the styles and pay for them, take them into stock and hope I have got it right.
Fashions change so rapidly right now that it is nigh on impossible to keep up. I too have scoured the universe in search of all the styles in large sizes but the quantities for a minimum order are huge for a small specialist business.
I have felt for some time now that we small business should get together in a sort of co-operative so we could buy more and at better prices.
I have a supplier who can get me Babycham type trainers but do I want 50 pairs of the same style???? I also used to go to the States and bring back 8/10 pairs at a time Signa, Shopping there was a joy. I always felt all my Xmas’s had come at once, thus the reasons behind http://www.thetalllady.co.uk
Any comments?? I would love to hear

Just discovered this thread. Thanks so much for offering a glimmer of hope to my 12 year old daughter. She already wears size 43 and is still growing Breaks my heart to see how upset she gets every time we try to find something fashionable here in Barcelona, so she lives in trainers.
Will check out some of these websites and we’ll be stocking up on our next visit to England.

Hello,
This is to Paula:
Hola, en Barcelona tienes una tienda que se llama Zapatotes, la verdad es que los zapatos no son nada del otro mundo: son caros y la calidad no es proporcional al precio, pero al menos ahi puedes encontrar de numeros grandes.
Un saludo!

thanks for letting us all know. Have just placed an order (my first with Barefoot Tess) and used the discount voucher. Can’t wait for the shoes to arrive!

I am *finally* getting around to making a proper community site for all us lovely larger footer ladies. Instead of launching everything together, I’ll add features in stages as I see how things go and get feedback etc. I hope to have a proper message board online shortly which should be an improvement on commenting on my very, very long blog post page!
You can sign up to be notified when the site launches at http://www.prettybigshoes.net. All comments, criticisms and suggestions welcome!

Hi Janine
This is really good news. Looking forward to seeing – and of course using the new website and message board.
Best regards
Debbie
November 20th, 2008 at 7:58 pm
Thanks Debbie,
But I really hope to create a site that will both highlight the existing choice available from websites and retailers, and in time give us a voice to help persuade major shoe shops to cater for us!
I’ll start small and basic and build it up as otherwise it will never materialise!
November 21st, 2008 at 2:25 pm
I heard a while ago, that Marks and Spencer trialled the selling of size nine shoes, but didn’t find it too successful, so they discarded the idea. Did YOU know about this trial? I didn’t – so I’m not surprised it wasn’t successful. Can’t remember where the trial was held, but still….!
If Marks would start carrying larger sizes – this would force the high street stores to follow suit! Maybe we should picket their offices in Baker Street
November 22nd, 2008 at 6:08 pm
Well done to you, Janine. A much needed site, I’ve signed up to your website and am looking forward to having it all in one place. I’m a size 10 wearer and am so pleased to see that we’re being catered for, properly!
Many thanks and I look forward to the new site.

Thanks for your support Amy

Hi Janine – great news, and please feel free to plunder my site if there’s anything of use!
November 23rd, 2008 at 7:54 pm
Hi Emma,
I’ll be sure to link back to you, and I’ve added you to my blogroll here on my cobwebbed blog (thought you were already on it – oops!). Your blog is a great resource. Pretty Big Shoes will take a while to get going – I’ll be compiling the initial directory for a bit before I launch it, so I’ll get a forum going first and take it from there. The long term aim is to give us a collective voice and hopefully get more shoes stocked in larger sizes – fairly ambitious I know, but who knows!?
Thanks for your kind words and the mention on your blog

Chichi – I was not aware of your blog. Well done on getting going with this – I’ve added you to my blogroll too.
Jess – good luck with your store, great to see more shops catering for both standard and specialist sizes. It’s “fun” getting e-commerce sites up and running isn’t it?

not sure if this has been mentioned already in the multiple posts, but Hush Puppies in the UK run some styles to size 9. They have some great styles and any that i’ve bought are comfy straight out of the box! And a bonus, delivery is free! g’luc!
December 14th, 2008 at 12:56 pm
Hi Cat,
I have bought a couple of size 9 hush puppies shoes before and have found them to be very comfy alright. It is great that http://hushpuppies.co.uk offers free delivery in UK. Hopefully they might deliver to Ireland too someday
December 14th, 2008 at 4:18 pm
Hi
My 15 year old daughter wears size 9s and has just bought a pair of hush puppies. She is pretty fussy about what she will buy but fell inlove with these shoes. They look really comfortable but despite obviously being a quite wide fit look very fashionable. Got them from Brantano reduced to £30 and they are clearly good quality which makes a change from some of the very cheap tat we are forced to buy usually.

hi i know this is for big feet , as i hav a size ten but i was wondering do any of you large footed ladies are tall and have probolems with sleeve?
my mum bought me a coat from monsoon and the sleeves are astronomically short and it looks quitte retarded , im only 14 HELP ME!
December 20th, 2008 at 1:16 am
More sale news: Karen from http://www.barefoottess.com has been in touch to let me know about a special one time sale they are offering from now to Christmas. If you type SHINE at the checkout code on the first page of the shopping cart, you get 20% off ALL shoes. Barefoot Tess specialise shoes up to size US 15 or UK 13, which are made exclusively for them.
Update on prettybigshoes.net. With an unexpected Christmas work rush (which I’m very thankful for in these recessionary times!) I’ve been unable to spend much time on this. However, I hope to launch the forum part at the start of 2009 at the latest, so that we can gather together all the January sales info at a glance etc. Then it will be onwards and upwards from there! Thanks for your patience and Happy Christmas/Holidays everyone
December 20th, 2008 at 10:08 am
dear long everything
don’t despair- my daughter is 15 and tall but if you look around there are a number of places that do ‘tall’ ranges because they are just cottoning on to the fact that you are not unusual!! New look and Dorothy Perkins do tall ranges and in general my advice would be to simply try stuff on because it is amazing how sizes vary from shop to shop. I have to say that in fact my daughter rarely buys from the tall ranges as she manages to find things quite easily in the ordinary ranges- and she is 6 feet tall!
December 20th, 2008 at 10:53 pm
im 6 feet tall also and i try normal stuff and tall stuff on but their coats are ugly so its really hard , i think everything should be made for the taller person and the short people should just adjust as we do
December 27th, 2008 at 11:20 pm
Hi Ladies,
Sales now on at http://www.ladieslargesizeshoes.com

i sometimes have to wear mens shoes although i go to evans not all their shoes are fashionable and if they are their not in my size .
I HOPE IN FUTURE TO SAVE US ALL FROM OUR DIFFICULTY FINDING SHOES! THEY MAKE A FEET RESIZING MACHINE.LoL:D

December 29th, 2008 at 9:32 pm
hi viki i found this site when i was 12 , now im 14 and i wear mens trainers which isnt so bad and i wear black pumps from barratts for school but i find it really hard because it would be nice to go shopping with friends and go to rivert island or newlook or something and try on nice shoes and wear shoes the same as them but i cantr and its really unfair , i think everything should be made for the taller person and everybody shouldjust ajust jut like we do.
December 29th, 2008 at 10:20 pm
Hi Vicki & Long Everything
I recently started a new website called katielongshoes.co.uk which goes up to size 11. I’m not saying everything would be to your taste as your young but if you take the time to flick through the various sections there are alot of different styles so hopefully 1 or 2 might hit the spot – I’ve sold the Silver Rosa to a few 15 and 16 year olds also Buckle Pump & Sassy have been popular. Our sales starts Friday 2nd Jan with up to 40% OFF lots of shoes and boots. Worth a peak you never know.
Love the idea of the foot re-sizing machine – IF ONLY
December 29th, 2008 at 11:19 pm
OH THNX LONG EVERYTHING AND KATIE I WILL CHECK OUT THE WEBSITE I KNo wot u mean long everything , its so hard im wearing mens trainers for p.e ,mens plimsoles from jdpsorts (mckenzie) for schools shoes! iit jus hapens that us young ones get from our mum n dad ! i used to blame them but not enymor lol but i wear womens shoes sumtimes from evanstheir shoes are ok but when u start wearing them they ache and ache until like the 5th time u wear it ur feet start adjusting to it!

hello ladies and happy new year.
I’m Maria from Greece and i’m planning a trip to London in the end of the month. I have a size 43 european(this is a 9 uk right?) and I’m wondering if i coulf find something in my size to the high street shops, except from chiltern str. shops.please help me i will only have 1 free day for shopping and it would be so nice if i could find some shoes available in my size without special pre-ordering and waiting…thank you
January 1st, 2009 at 2:28 pm
oh and it’s so relieving that i’m not the only one bigfooted in this world. sometimes i believe that i’m cursed and it’s so unfair..
January 2nd, 2009 at 1:10 am
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL MY FELLOW BIG FOOTS ! ITS A NEW YEAR HOPEFULLY WE WOULD FIND SHOES WE LIKE AND THAT FIT PERFECT
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:09 am
maria – if your coming to london i would suggest that you go to chiltern street – it is behind selfridges in oxford street – you would be best to get a taxi. there are about 3/4 shoes shops all near each other that specialize in large womens shoes. crispins (www.crispinshoes.com) houseofsole -(www.houseofsole.com) magnus (www.magnusshoes.com) and totally large shoes (www.totallylargeshoes.com) you could also try the high street, next/office/newlook and evans all do size 9’s however, i think that they are really a 42 so be warned!!!!!!! hope you find something.
January 3rd, 2009 at 12:36 pm
inda thank you so much for your answer and your advice of course.I think that i ‘ll give a try to chitern street after all.wish i’ll find tones of shoes and the only problem would be to choose from(only in my dreams i know)…oh one more, i ‘ve also read about barrats do you think that i could find something in stock there?sorry for my perseverance, just want to save some time searching ,hope you’ll understand.thank you and wishes to all of you!
January 3rd, 2009 at 6:50 pm
Maria – you should definately find some size 9s in Barratts. Apparently all their shoes now go to a size 9 but they also do a decent range of 10s which you may need to go into as they can be a bit small fitting sometimes.
They aren’t the best quality but they are cheap & fashionable. They do lots of ballet pumps & flats.
Good luck – hope you have a good trip
January 4th, 2009 at 1:46 pm
Becky thank you for your responding,i really appreciate your help..any other suggestions welcomed.hope it would be a very constructive trip(is this the correct word ?whatever you know what i mean).thanks again…
January 4th, 2009 at 5:28 pm
Happy New Year everyone! Next and Evans most definitely have size 9s as 43. I spend a small fortune there. Hush Puppies also carry lots of 43s as do La Redoute who have a plus size section on their website called Tallisime and they go up to a size 45. French Sole also offer beautiful ballet shoes up to a 45, they are expensive but they could be a treat for you. The Office sale shop on Tottenham Court Road also have some size 43s. Brantano shoes cater for us as well. Have you also tried Tallgirls.co.uk they have some lovely shoes on their website. Good luck, let me know how you get on.
January 4th, 2009 at 5:55 pm
Happy New to you all. I have got some great bargains in the larger sizes on http://www.thetalllady.co.uk. Maria could order and have the shoes delivered by courier the next day if you wish. There are still some boots left in all the larger sizes too. Give me a call for if you have any queries regarding fit and sizing

January 5th, 2009 at 1:55 pm
thank you Monique and Peta i’ll have what you suggested in mind.
January 7th, 2009 at 3:51 pm
hi Monique i’d like to ask you about next ,do they stock any 9s in their shops, cause i’ve read that they tend not to.i would like to spend a little fortune there, too.
January 7th, 2009 at 5:46 pm
hi maria
no they dont stock them in store but you can have them delivered to a store if you pay on lline first. Then if you dont like them or they dont fit you can just give them back to the store and your credit card will be refunded. http://www.next.com
January 7th, 2009 at 6:49 pm
thanks inda, unfortunately that isn’t very convenient for me for many different reasons(for example they don’t deliver to my country and so i can’t register).i just won’t visit any next stores, at least for shoe shopping.thankyou anyway!
January 7th, 2009 at 6:57 pm
thanks inda, unfortunately this isn’t very convenient for me for many different reasons(for example they don’t deliver to my country and so i can’t register).i just won’t visit any next stores, for shoe shopping at least.thank you anyway(sorry for my misspelled
January 7th, 2009 at 9:51 pm
Hi Maria, Next very rarely have size 9 shoes in their stores unless it’s a sale. I find it quite annoying that it is acceptable for shops to stock clothes up to size 30 yet stocking size 9 shoes is a no no. I digress, I usually go in to Next, look through the catalogue and order what I want to come to that store so I don’t pay for postage. When they arrive, I try them on and they always fit. I wish they would just stock size 9s in their shops.
January 7th, 2009 at 11:50 pm
I couldn’t agree more with you Monique.it’s such a pity,i loved their shoes and their prices..
January 10th, 2009 at 12:43 pm
hi ladies,
i will suggest that you check ebay, shoes and boots have being listed under ladies large size shoes . http://www.ebay.co.uk

January 24th, 2009 at 1:56 pm
Hi Amber
Have you tried Brantano?
January 24th, 2009 at 9:37 pm
DONT TRY BRANTANO THEIR SHOES ARENT VERY GOOD WIDE FITTERS AND MOST OF THEM ARENT NICE! I SUGGEST U TRY SOM OF THE WEBSITES LISTED LIIIKKKE http://WWW.LADIESLARGESIZESHOES.COM and http://WWW.THETALLLADY.CO.UK AND SOM OTHERS
January 27th, 2009 at 5:50 pm
yes , brantanos shoes are hideous
and barratts is closing- its gone into administration so gonna have to chop my toes off
January 27th, 2009 at 6:34 pm
Hi Amber
Sorry about the Brantano suggestion. I know they are not wonderful but if its just for school…..! My daughter is at school and would probably agree with you but we have found the occasional flat ballerina type there. I hesitate to suggest it but Evans do have the odd ok pair- but I suppose it is all down to personal taste.
good luck
January 28th, 2009 at 1:47 am
Hi Everyone!
I wear a size 42 and wanted to wear shoes that I could love (like most women) instead of just settling for what fit. I have searched far and wide and have just opened an internet shop with glamorous and sparkly shoes at http://www.parrisshoes.com, stocking sizes EU42-46. I now have shoes that make me feel fabulous, and I hope they will lift your heart as well. Tonia x
January 28th, 2009 at 10:04 pm
I think we all need to just give each suggestion a try- that’s what i’ve always done. I follow many of the links and have thought that many of the shoes are nice but expensive, downright frumpy (and expensive), or once in a blue moon a great find. What is clear is that one person’s cinderella slipper is another person’s Doc Martin boot! There is no point in comparing some of these shoes or shoe shops when they are catering for different pockets and age groups. In our house we like Next for example, they are reasonably priced and good value but unfortunately they are seldom wide enough but I wouldn’t criticise them on here because for some slimmer feet they would be ideal. So please just take the advice offered and let people judge whether quality and price is ok for them
January 28th, 2009 at 10:59 pm
i feel this website is very helpful and ive been following it for a year now and its kinda helped , nike trainers , their website goes up to a 9.5 so thats good for those who wear trainers right?!?! i know its good for me but we cant live in trainers , stores should get with the world , as the nation is getting bigger you would think their feet are too , i feel it is silly that shops have ‘taller’ sections and small shoes , gosh this furiates arg!!!
February 3rd, 2009 at 6:36 pm
Hi Amber and Karen,
I agree with both of you – shoes, just like fashion in general, are highly subjective. Even among women around the same age, there can be a lot of different tastes. Unfortunately, for many of us with larger feet, personal taste often has to go out the window as there are so few shoes that you can even get on your foot in the high street!
I take a wide size 9 and also have always found it hard getting comfortable shoes even when I was a smaller size. I have been stuck in crocs and trainers for ages now, which I think are only making my feet bigger and wider. I had to buy size 10 runners recently!
Anyway, the site I am making dedicated to our cause http://www.prettybigshoes.net/ is *almost* up and running at long last. Apologies for the delay on this – every time I had a bit of time to work on it, I’d get a mad rush of work on all of a sudden, which you can’t turn down in these recessionary times! Plus, I’ve had a few technical problems getting things working but it should be launching within a week or so.
I’ll only have a message board starting off, and I know it’s too late for all the January sales, but I hope it will be a much easier way of sharing info and experiences as this blog page has got so long and it was never really designed to take so much input!
I do really appreciate all the comments, websites and info that people have shared here over the years and while it is taking a lot longer than I hoped, I really hope that my shoe site will help us all further, and in time become a definitive resource which women can use to find shoes they personally like and which will show shoe manufacturers and retailers that this is an important market.
February 3rd, 2009 at 7:21 pm
hi – i have just bought some shoes from long tall sally – they are really wide an eee fitting – so if you have wide feet then order them in a smaller size – they have a sale on at the moment -
February 16th, 2009 at 8:37 pm
sad news lush shoes are closing down – they currently have an instore only sale on http://www.lushshoes.co.uk – they have some lovely shoes and were my favourite shop- i am sad to see them go
Linda
February 19th, 2009 at 11:00 am
Yes Linda I noticed that they sent an email around about a fortnight ago inviting people to buy stuff, stating that they would be gone for a while but would be back. I am really really hoping that they do come back, I have bought about 3 pairs of shoes from there over the years. What a shame!
Its sad that some of these people who put their necks on the line to go out and cater for the needs of us tall / larger-footed ladies are suffering under the current economic climate. It appears that Steptall was another economic casualty.

Hi all, my shoe forum is finally up and running at http://www.prettybigshoes.net/site/forum/.
I’ve added some initial info, and will of course be adding more content as I get time. I’m also starting work on the store directory now which will add a lot more value to the site.
It would be great if some of you lovely ladies could join the forum and share your favourite shops etc. Or, if you have trouble finding shoes to fit you, ask at the forum, and hopefully you will get some help.
I know that a lot of people have got helpful info from this blog post over the years which is really great. But it’s got so long that it’s not the easiest way of sharing the information. I’m hoping that the forum will provide a much better way of doing this in time.
I would also encourage any of the specialist retailers monitoring this post to register on the forum. You can post about your shop in the shoe forum, and be on hand if anyone is looking for specific styles or shoe brands that you sell.
I’m soft launching it at the moment, so I can deal with any teething problems etc before I promote it properly. All comments welcome!
Thanks,
Janine.

hi everyone,
we are at http://www.ladieslargesizeshoes.com will like to offer anyone interested in buying our shoes a free try-on of the shoe you are interested in, all we ask is that you send the one foot shoe back to us once you have tried it on to check if it fit. This is at no cost to you in postage both to you and back to us. so if you fancy anything on the site, send us an email with the style number; your name and address and we will send the one foot shoe out to you. an enclosed stamp envelope will be included in the package.
thanks

The shop in Hungerford is called Ellie Dickins. Chiltern Street in London is great for various shoe shops of different sizes and prices. French Sole have started doing some 44s. For the ‘younger’ ones, all I can say is I had size 7 feet when I was 10 years old but life has got easier and I remember having to wear football boots as hockey boots stopped at size 8. I am now 10.5 -my big problem is now sports shoes – mens sizes are too wide – any ideas??
April 21st, 2009 at 3:12 pm
I am a size 10, 10 and a half and am looking for information on companies or shops that sell such sizes in South Africa. I am based in Namibia and it would be easier for me to get my shoes from South Africa as it is close by and I always visit there quite often. Please help!!!
April 22nd, 2009 at 1:33 pm
I just want to say thanks. I am a size 10 and finding shoes that I really like is such a nightmare. You can bet that I’ll be popping down to chiltern street very soon and also checking up on some of the websites listed by your users.
Thanks again.

you all out there feel that you have trouble finding size 9 and 10. i wear a size 13 and im only 13.I’m not even sure if it stopped growing. I cant find any sandals anywhere and I had a very hard time finding shoes for school
April 30th, 2009 at 10:01 pm
Hi Tanya,
I don’t know if I’ll be able to help you, but I have found there is noticeable variation in sizes between manufacturers, and some of the 12’s we stock just might fit a 13. If you send me your foot measurements (length and width at the widest point, for each foot), I can check if anything I carry might fit. Please email me at heels@parrisshoes.com, and I will help if I can.
Warmest regards, Tonia Parris
May 9th, 2009 at 2:22 pm
Thanks Tonia,
But my email isn’t working so the length and width of my right foot is 12.2″ and 4″ and my left is 12.5″ and 4.5″
May 9th, 2009 at 3:52 pm
Hi Tanya,
I have checked your measurements roughly against a shoe measure, and they aren’t quite what I would have expected. As your email isn’t working, I would be happy to chat to you about it if you want to call me on 01423 550297.
Warmest regards,
Tonia Parris

Can anybody please help, my daughter is 21 and obviously likes younger styles. The trouble is she is a size 8, 9 and sometimes 10 depending on which shoe/trainer, but the problem is she has narrow feet, she just gives up when we go shopping and hardly has any shoes. Is there anywhere out there that specialises in long narrow not to expensive shoes. We would be very greatful if anybody can help. It will have to be online shopping as we live in the deepest depths of Dorset, which isn’t very good for shopping. Please help!!!!!

Hi Mumsy,
I have the opposite problem – a wide foot – but I have heard that http://www.barefoottess.com (US website) are good for narrow styles. The postage to UK is high, but the shoes are reasonable.
UK wise, http://www.amberandjade.com cater for narrow feet. According to the fitting info on their website, their original width styles are for NARROWER to AVERAGE width feet – Technically a B-fitting but, due to the way that they have been designed, they also fit brilliantly much narrower feet such as AAA and AA. Their sister site with plainer, less expensive styles may also be of interest: http://myinnersole.com.
http://www.crispinsshoes.com also do a lot of narrow styles. A quick look at their site does not show too many funky styles, but when I visited (a few years ago) the selection was fashionable and dressy, if a bit high end.
You could also try posting at my new shoe site http://www.prettybigshoes.net which is still not properly launched, but several shoe retailers have registered and may be able to reply to you with info on their narrow styles.
Good luck,
Janine.

hi all – i have some lovely shoes for sale on ebay -all of which are brand new (my mad shoe fettish)-they are all designer and a size 10. All except one pair are too narrow for me- they are a B fitting but there is one pair that is wide fit in a size nine. to find them go to ebay- then community – the put in my id which is xeroid3 – you will see them all.
– by the way went into crispins yesterday, they are having a mid season sale. I also went to Magnus and Totally – they both have offers on too, so worth the visit to Chiltern Street if you can get there. Linda

Hi, I’ve just found this site and thought I’d add my own site if you don’t mind. I love buying Large Size Womens Shoes and so have set up a blog talking about my life and the quest for size 13 shoes: womenslargesizeshoes.blogspot.com. As for your extensive list, I think you’ve pretty much covered everyone although I stumbled upon a shop for extra large womens shoes in dublin called Cinderella shoes which i would recommend. If you need anything ask to speak to a girl called Charlene, seems helpfull enough.
Please check my blog out and say hello.

Hello again ladies,
I’m off to London shortly for a few days and hope to pick up some shoes while there. Apart from Chiltern St and Amber and Jade at the markets, is there anywhere else I should check out in central London?
Thanks,
Janine.
July 14th, 2009 at 7:49 pm
HI Janine,
just saw a whole load of discounted Amber and Jade sizes 8,9 and 10 at the huge TK Maxx on Kensington CHurch st…
July 14th, 2009 at 8:46 pm
Hi Karen,
Many thanks for the tip off
I’d forgotten all about TK Maxx – I only have a small one near me which does not do any size 9 shoes (although I’ve bought lots of runners there). I’ll be staying near enough to Kensington so I’ll drop by and may grab a handbag or 2 too

Hi Mumsy – if it helps I have narrow feet too and like your daughter have trouble finding shoes to fit, particularly as I have not so narrow legs… you can imagine the fun I have finding boots to fit!! I did finally find some very pretty pumps which fit me perfectly on http://www.cinderellashoes.ie Here is the shoes I bought.. http://www.cinderellashoes.ie/products/Sarita.html They were only €39 and they fit perfectly. You should ring them up and tell them your dilemma, gina the owner has large feet and is very understanding esp when it comes to teens as she was a larger footed teen! here is their email: info@cinderellashoes.net Best of luck!!

I have been subjected to credit card fraud on the website and consequently lost a lot of money and stock. I feel that there is very little poit i contiuing throwing money away so my whole stock will be on the site at half price.
There are some great bargains so log on and see what you can find..

Hi Peta,
I am very sorry to hear that. I have heard a lot of horror stories on the radio lately re credit card fraud and I am sorry that it has had such drastic consequences for you. Thanks for catering for the large shoe size niche and good luck in the future.
Janine.

Hello ladies
Just thought I’d share a website I found with you. I have been after some flat winter boots for a while and came across a website that does Andalucian riding boots in some lovely styles up to size 46!! I think the size 46 is probably intended for men…. they’ll be like wellies! I hear you sigh… however, the real news is that they provide a bespoke tailoring service of the styles shown for a mere additional 60 euros. You can download a pdf to measure your feet in 6 places and off you go. So the ones I am after are going to cost me total of 190 Euros (£170) plus postage. I figured if they’re a classic style and handmade they’ll last for years so it’s a worthwhile investment. I’ll let you know how I fare.

Is it just my computer, or is http://www.houseofsole.co.uk out of business? WHenever I click on any of the links, i get that “This webpage cannot be found” screen.

I bought some awsome shoes from US but they are big for me (size UK11 or US 13) … Mary Janes with a feminine detail, 3 inch heel, black patent leather, very comfortable… Therefore, I put them on e-bay. Hi Karen,
Do let us know how you got on and thanks for the website.
Ladies, thanks so much for this blog. It gives me a nice warm feeling to see I am not alone. I am a US 13ww and I am 6ft tall. So you can imagine, it is hell finding trendy shoes, especially for a young woman like myself. Anyway, things can only get better eh. I am currently looking for some nice sandals and boots and it is a chore. I am in London and I think I should be an 11 here? Still I am not convinced…… Evans is not even an option for me.
Any suggestions are helpful.

Hi ladies,
I just found this blog and liking the new forum, I bought some new large shoes at Fi Fi Belles because of it
My feet are wide too and it’s heard finding a stylish pair in my size. Actually there’s a new site http://www.webstershoes.co.uk which is really good for women’s wide fitting shoes they also do bespoke!

OMG. i’m 14, and size 10 feet. previously i have got sooo upset every time i try to find some shoes and all i can find are hideous granny shoes in my size. but it’s all good now coz i have been buying my school shoes from tallgirls.co.uk, they start at size 8, and go up to size 12 me thinks
and i’m sooo happy, at the weekend i bought a pair of converses, they are the mens ones, coz the pink ones only go up to size eight, but i just bought the white and black ones
and also if anybody wants to buy some ugg style boots, (even tho’ the summer is coming up LOL) try Next. they don’t do size 10, but they come up big and i managed to get a pair os size 9s and they fit really well
of course you could buy real uggs, but they are expensive obv. hope i’ve helped some ppl? i love this site thanks for all the help
