About Me
I am 27 years old and from Dublin, Ireland. I like surfing the net, reading computer books and cross stitching. I don’t like typing much, which is why I use lower case letters a lot of the time. However, I don’t like bad grammar either, so I’m trying to change this bad habit.
Homespun is an all kinds of everything blog with the common thread of the home running through it. I finally moved into my first home in summer 2007, so I get excited by sales in Habitat and baking muffins is my latest hobby. As a freelance web developer, I also currently work from my apartment. So I’ve set up home and business simultaneously and have fun balancing the two.
Just to clear up any confusion, my blog was originally called WYSIWYG, pronounced WIZZY-WIG, an acronym in the computing world for What You See is What you Get. That name made sense at first, since I intended to blog about computer and internet related topics, and I’m a pretty honest straight up kind of girl. However, once I started blogging, I realised that very few of my posts were technical. I was also amazed that people outside my family read my waffle! Most could not make sense of the name though - I’m not surprised! Then I abandoned blogging for over a year, during which time I moved out of home and started working for myself. This gave me lots of new angles to blog about, but the name Wysiwyg seemed even less appropriate. So, I decided to start a new chapter in blogging with a new name: Homespun. However, I hope that my blog will always reflect the fact that I’m a “what you see is what you get” kind of person.
